Tires - Tire 285/65R20 Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT (Remove and Install)

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.

Raise and support vehicle.
NoteSet air suspension to "Jack Mode".
- Remove the LH front wheel cap. See Wheel Cover - Front - LH (Remove and Install).

Loosen the LH front wheel lug nuts
(x6).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm deep socket

Raise the vehicle fully.
NoteSet to a comfortable working height, and then lower to locks.CAUTIONMake sure the locks engage on both sides to prevent tilting.

Remove the nuts (x6) that attach the
wheel to the hub, and then remove the LH front wheel from the vehicle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm deep socket

Place the wheel and tire on the tire
machine and secure it.
Notex1 wheel clamp

Remove the valve stem cap.
-
Remove the valve stem core using a
valve core removal tool.
CAUTIONExercise caution as tire rapidly deflates.NoteWear safety glasses as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).

Rotate the wheel and tire so that the
upper roller is ~100 mm in front of the valve stem.
CAUTIONFailure to properly position the valve stem can result in TPMS sensor damage.

Break the upper bead.
-
Remove the tire from the wheel.
NoteMake sure to position the TPMS sensor ahead of the tire machine arm.
Install

Thoroughly lubricate both tire beads,
and then position for installation.
NoteMake sure to position the TPMS sensor opposite the tire machine arm. Ensure that the wheel cover design side of tire is facing outwards.

Install the tire to the wheel.
CAUTIONUse caution to avoid damage to beads.NoteApply additional lubricant as required.

Inflate the tire to seat the
beads.
CAUTIONDo not exceed the pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.NoteWear safety glasses as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).NoteMake sure the inside and outside beads are seated.

Install the valve core stem using the
valve core removal tool.
CAUTIONHand tight only. Do not overtighten.

Remove the wheel and tire from the
tire changer.

Install the tire and wheel assembly
onto the balancer.
Notex1 6-lug wheel flangeNotePosition the wheel onto the spindle shaft, and then secure the wheel using the flange.NoteIf 6-lug wheel flange is unavailable, use 216mm Blue Hunter centering cone adapter.

Remove the wheel weights.

Verify that the tire pressure is
set.
NoteRefer to "Tire and Loading Information" label located on driver side B-pillar.NoteInstall the valve stem cap afterward.

Input wheel dimensions into the
balancer machine.
NoteSkip this step if the machine does not require manual input.

Perform road force wheel balance.
NoteFollow machine instructions.NoteSafety hood must be down to start balancing.NoteMake sure load roller engages.

Record road force wheel balance results.
NoteIf road force is within limit, then skip to install wheel weights. If road force is outside limit, then proceed to force match.

Perform tire and wheel force match.
NoteMeasure runout, and then mark tire and rim for reference points. Use machine to determine points to match on tire and wheel.

Remove the tire and wheel assembly
from the balancer.
Notex1 6-lug wheel flangeNoteRemove flange, and then remove the wheel from the spindle shaft.

Install the tire and wheel assembly
onto the tire machine.
Notex1 wheel clampNotePosition the wheel onto the wheel support, and then secure the wheel using the clamp.

Remove the valve stem cap.

Remove the valve stem core.
CAUTIONExercise caution as tire rapidly deflates. Wear appropriate PPE.

Break the tire beads.
NoteUse lubrication around the tire and wheel. Break top and bottom bead.

Remove the tire from the wheel.
NoteMake sure to position the TPMS sensor ahead of the tire machine arm.

Install the tire onto the wheel
matching previously marked points from the balancer.
NoteRotate the tire to align with the previously marked reference points.

Inflate the tire to seat the
bead.
NoteRecommend assistance. Lift the tire while inflating. Do not exceed pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.

Install the valve stem core.
CAUTIONExercise caution as tire rapidly deflates. Wear appropriate PPE.

Remove the tire and wheel assembly
from the tire machine.
Notex1 wheel clamp.NoteRemove the clamp, and then remove the wheel from the wheel support.

Install the tire and wheel assembly
onto the balancer.
Notex1 6-lug wheel flange.NotePosition the wheel onto the spindle shaft, and then secure the wheel using flange.

balance.

Install weights onto the wheel.
NotePlace weights on positions indicated by balancer.

Perform check spin.

Remove the tire and wheel assembly
from the balancer.
Notex1 6-lug wheel flange.NoteRemove the flange, and then remove the wheel from the spindle shaft.
- Install the wheel onto the hub.
- Hand start the lug nuts (x6) beginning with the bottom lug nut first.

Partially tighten the lug nuts (x6) of
the wheel to the initial torque in a criss-cross star pattern.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm deep socket

Lower the vehicle until the tires are
touching the ground.
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.

Tighten the lug nuts (x6) of the wheel
in a criss-cross star pattern.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm deep socket
- Install the LH front wheel cap. See Wheel Cover - Front - LH (Remove and Install).

Remove the vehicle from the
lift.
NoteLower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle.NoteRemove the air suspension from "Jack Mode".
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
