Hoses - Hose, Battery Supply (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
  4. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  5. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  6. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System, tap Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant and Refrigerant), and allow the routine to complete.

    Make sure the routine is successful.
  7. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  9. Raise the vehicle fully.
  10. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the lower valance to the body, and then remove the valance from the vehicle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    Release the covers to expose the bolts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

  11. Remove the front aero shield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  12. Disconnect the LH and RH CFM electrical connectors (x2) and release the harness clips.

  13. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the fore crossmember to the front subframe.
    90 Nm (66.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Push up on the CFM. Use a hammer, if needed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 18 mm socket

  14. Position a coolant catcher below the RH front of the vehicle.
  15. Disconnect the battery coolant supply hose and return hose, and then release the hose clips (x2).

    Release the spring clip to disconnect the hose.

    Plug the fittings after disconnecting.
  16. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  17. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  18. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  19. Remove the center applique assembly. See Front Grille and Applique - Front Center Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
  20. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Front Bumper Fascia - Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  21. Release the spring clips, and then disconnect the powertrain bypass hose, the radiator outlet hose, and the radiator inlet hose from the Supermanifold.

    This will drain the coolant reservoir.

    Plug all the fittings.
  22. Remove the cooling fan module. See Fan and Radiator - Cooling Fan Module (Remove and Install).
  23. Disconnect the Supermanifold harness electrical connector.
  24. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the Supermanifold to the vehicle, and then lower the Supermanifold until it is resting on the HVAC case.
    33 Nm (24.3 lbs-ft)

    Support the manifold while removing the fasteners.

    Break the fasteners free, and then remove by hand to avoid tool jamming.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

  25. Disconnect the chiller to battery hose, the powertrain supply hose, and the chiller to battery hose from the Supermanifold, and then disconnect the electrical connectors (x2).

    CAUTION
    Do not push down on red tab. Pull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull again to release the electrical connector.

    Pull the Supermanifold forward to access the spring clips and electrical connectors.
  26. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  27. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  28. Remove the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
  29. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  30. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  31. Remove the instrument panel mid panel assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  32. Remove the instrument panel lower panel assembly. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  33. Remove the glovebox assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  34. Place absorbent mats under the car computer.

  35. Disconnect the car computer coolant hoses (x2).

    Disconnect the lower hose first, then the upper hose.

  36. Release the car computer hose grommet from the bulkhead, and then pull the hoses though to the frunk area.
  37. Overlap from A/C Recovery.
  38. Remove the A/C hoses from the vehicle.
  39. Remove the nut that attaches the Penta HVAC line assembly to the Supermanifold plate.
    36 Nm (26.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  40. Remove AC line from Supermanifold

  41. Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C line to the Supermanifold.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

  42. With assistance, remove the Supermanifold from the vehicle.

    Rotate the Supermanifold counterclockwise under the megabeam for clearance.

    Support the assembly from underneath and at the reservoir during removal.
  43. Release the breather fitting from the front drive unit, release the clips (x2) that attach the battery supply hose bundle to the vehicle, and then pull the HV battery coolant hoses upwards from behind the front drive unit to remove it from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the battery supply hose bundle into the vehicle, secure the edge clips to HVAC case, and then secure the front drive unit breather.

  2. Replace the seal washers (x5) to the Penta HVAC line on the A/C manifold side.

    Lubricate the seal washers with RB100EV POE oil.
  3. With assistance, position the Supermanifold to the vehicle.

    Rotate the Supermanifold counterclockwise under the megabeam.

    Support from underneath and at reservoir.

    Align penta HVAC line.
  4. Secure the chiller to battery hose, the powertrain supply hose, and the chiller to battery hose to the Supermanifold, and then connect the electrical connectors (x2).

    Secure the spring clips after the hoses are fully engaged.

    Engage the locking tabs on the electrical connectors.

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure the hoses are fully engaged.
  5. Install the nut that attaches the pentaline to the Supermanifold.
    36 Nm (26.5 lbs-ft)

    Make sure that good alignment of pipes before tightening the nut.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  6. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the Supermanifold to the megabeam.
    33 Nm (24.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket

    Start the bolts by hand.
  7. With assistance, position the cooling fan module into the vehicle.

    Install the CFM from the bottom.

    Make sure the electrical harness is not pinched during installation.
  8. Position the fore crossmember into the vehicle, but do not install the fasteners yet.

    Lift the CFM as needed for clearance.

    Tap into position with a dead blow hammer if needed.
  9. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the CFM.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    The 2 upper fasteners are accessible from the frunk area, and the 2 lower fasteners are accessible through the sides of the CFM.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  10. Secure the grommet and harness clip that attach the cooling fan module harness to the cooling fan assembly, and then connect the electrical connectors (x2).

    Engage the locking tab on the louver electrical connector.
  11. Connect the radiator inlet hose to the radiator, and then secure the spring clip.

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure the hose is fully engaged.
  12. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the radiator, and then secure the spring clip.

  13. Secure powertrain bypass hose, radiator outlet hose, and radiator inlet hose to Supermanifold, and then secure the spring clips.

  14. Connect the Supermanifold harness electrical connector.
  15. Replace the seal washers for Supermanifold to compressor AC line on Supermanifold side.

  16. Position the A/C line assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolt that attaches the A/C line bracket to the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  17. Install the bolt that attaches the A/C line to the Supermanifold.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  18. Raise the vehicle fully.
  19. Connect the battery inlet and outlet coolant hoses, and then secure the edge clips.

  20. Connect the cooling fan module electrical connectors (x2), and then engage the connector locks.

  21. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the fore crossmember to the front subframe.
    90 Nm (66.4 lbs-ft)

    Lift the CFM away from the beam to aid in clearance.

  22. Install the front aero shield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  23. Position the lower valence onto the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x6) that attach the valance to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  24. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  25. Reconnect the A/C hoses to the vehicle.
  26. Perform the A/C Vacuum and Run Leak Test. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  27. Perform the cooling system vacuum refill procedure. See Cooling System (Vacuum Refill).
  28. Install the front fascia. See Front Bumper Fascia - Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  29. Install the front center applique. See Front Grille and Applique - Front Center Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
  30. Perform A/C recharge. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  31. Perform thermal performance. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  32. Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  33. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  34. Raise the RH front window and close the RH front door.
  35. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  36. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  37. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
