Slat System - Tonneau (Remove and Install)

Warning

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Open the tailgate.
- Open the tonneau cover.

Remove the LH sail applique. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Sail Applique Assembly - LH (Remove and Replace).
NoteDo not discard the LH sail applique yet. The applique will be used to operate the tonneau cover in later steps.
- Remove the LH tonneau water management seal. See Tailgate Seals - Tonneau Water Management Seal, LH, Center (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH rear lamp closeout applique. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Rear Lamp Closeout Applique - LH (Remove and Install).

Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
LH tonneau hard stop to the vehicle, and then remove it from the vehicle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Remove the LH tonneau rail slip
datum.

Rotate the LH tailgate bump stop
counterclockwise, and then release the bump stop away from the vehicle to remove
it.

Repeat step 5 through step 10 for the RH side of the vehicle.

Position a tonneau transfer frame (PN:
1999662-00-A) onto a powertrain table, and then install the fasteners (x8) to secure
it.

Apply masking tape to the leading
edges of the transfer frame that will engage the tonneau rails..
-
Connect air supply to the powertrain
table, and then position the tonneau transfer frame onto the tonneau bed rails.
NoteRaise and adjust the angle on powertrain table as needed.

Align the transfer frame to the
tonneau bed rails, and then install the pins (x2).

Position the LH sail applique onto the
bed of the vehicle, and then connect the tonneau switch connector.

With assistance, press the close
button on the tonneau switch to release the tonneau chain from the motors.
NotePress the close button until both motors have audibly released all links.NoteGuide the slats while closing the tonneau.

Use masking tape and/or bungee cords
to secure the tonneau floating slats.
NoteSlats must be secured to prevent breakdown or shifting.

With assistance, manually guide the
remaining tonneau slats and chain out of bed rails.
NoteRemove the pins, and then move powertrain table away from vehicle and guide slats out.
Install
-
Position the tonneau transfer frame
onto the tonneau bed rails.
NoteLay the tonneau chain on the tailgate, and then secure the ends to prevent breakdown or shifting. Use tape or bungee cords as needed.NoteConnect air supply, and then raise and adjust the angle on powertrain table as needed.

With assistance, manually guide the
remaining tonneau slats and chain onto the bed rails.
NoteEvenly guide slats into the bed, and then install the pins.NoteMonitor Y reaction clips entering bed rails and ensure the clips do not bind. Monitor slats during install and ensure all are squared during install.

Release the tonneau floating
slats.

With assistance, secure the tonneau
chain onto the motors.
NotePress open button until both motors have audibly secured all links and cover is fully open.

Disconnect the air supply, and then
remove the tonneau transfer frame from the tonneau bed rails.
NoteLower and adjust the angle on the powertrain table as needed.

Position the RH tailgate bump stop
into the vehicle, and then rotate the bump stop clockwise to secure it.

Install the RH tonneau slip datum
bracket.

Position the RH tonneau hard stop into
the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the hard stop to the
vehicle.NoteHand start the center black locating bolt first.NoteSet 2mm of space between the datum and the end of the bed rail.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Install the RH rear lamp closeout appliques. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Rear Lamp Closeout Applique - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the RH tonneau water management seal. See Tailgate Seals - Tonneau Water Management Seal, LH, Center (Remove and Install).
- Install the RH sail applique. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Sail Applique Assembly - RH (Remove and Replace).

Repeat step 6 through step 11 for the LH side of the vehicle.

- Close the tailgate.
- Close the tonneau cover.
- Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
