Sensor - TPMS - Front - LH (Remove and Install)

Note
An updated TPMS sensor is available (pictured, black). It performs and is serviced identically to the original sensor (pictured, purple).
  • Both sensor types can be installed on different wheels on the same vehicle.
  • The mounting nuts on both sensor types are cross-compatible, but it is recommended to install the nut that is in newest condition.

Remove

  1. Remove the wheel assembly. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Place the wheel and tire on the tire machine and secure it.

  3. Remove the valve stem cap.
  4. Remove the valve stem core using a valve core removal tool.

    CAUTION
    Exercise caution as tire rapidly deflates.

    Note
    Wear safety glasses as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  5. Rotate the wheel and tire so that the upper roller is ~100 mm in front of the valve stem.
    Attention: Failure to properly position the valve stem can result in TPMS sensor damage.
  6. Break the upper bead.
  7. Remove the nut that attaches the TPMS sensor to the wheel, and then remove the TPMS sensor from the wheel.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Push the bead down for access.

Install

  1. Install the nut that attaches the TPMS sensor to the wheel.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  2. Inflate the tire to seat the beads.

    CAUTION
    Do not exceed the pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.

    Note
    Wear safety glasses as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).

    Note
    Make sure the inside and outside beads are seated.
  3. Install the valve core stem using the valve core removal tool.

    CAUTION
    Hand tight only. Do not over tighten.
  4. Set tire pressure to specifications, and then install the valve stem cap.

    Refer to "Tire and Loading Information" label located on driver side B-pillar.
  5. Remove the wheel and tire from the tire changer.

  6. Install the wheel assembly. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
