Rear Drive Inverter - Cover, Phase Out (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Open the tonneau cover.
  4. Open the tailgate.
  5. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  7. Perform vehicle electrical isolation procedure. See Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure.
  8. Position the mid aero shield onto the vehicle, and then install the fasteners (x8) and clips (x6) that attach the aero shield to the vehicle.
    70 Nm (51.6 lbs-ft)
    28 Nm (20.6 lbs-ft)
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    Note
    The 15 mm bolts (x3) are torqued to 70 Nm, 13 mm bolts (x3) to 28 Nm, and 10 mm bolts (x2) to 6 Nm.

    Apply Loctite 222 onto the mid aeroshield bolts before installing.
  9. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  10. Remove the LH and RH bed cargo tub struts. See Tonneau - Bed Cargo Tub Strut (Remove and Install).
  11. With assistance, remove the bolts (x4) that attach the bed cargo tub lid to the vehicle, and then remove the lid from the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

  12. Remove the bed floor assembly. See Truck Bed - Bed Floor Assembly (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the LH sail applique. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Sail Applique Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  14. Release the clip at the rear of the LH tonneau rail seal, and then pull the seal away from the rail to release it from the groove.
  15. Starting from the rear, release the clips (x8) that attach the LH upper bed side wall assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the side wall from the vehicle.

    Lift the tonneau seal as needed.

    Pull from the bottom downwards.
  16. Remove the LH bed closeout panel. See Truck Bed - Rear Bed Closeout - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Remove the LH bed side wall. See Bed Side Wall - Bed Side Wall - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Remove the RH sail applique. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Sail Applique Assembly - RH (Remove and Install).
  19. Release the clip at the rear of the RH tonneau rail seal, and then pull the seal away from the rail to release it from the groove.
  20. Starting from the rear, release the clips (x8) that attach the RH upper bed side wall assembly to the vehicle, disconnect the electrical connector, and then remove the side wall from the vehicle.
  21. Remove the RH bed closeout panel. See Truck Bed - Rear Bed Closeout - LH (Remove and Install).
  22. Remove the RH bed side wall. See Bed Side Wall - Bed Side Wall - LH (Remove and Install).
  23. Remove the bed cargo tub. See Bed Cargo Tub - Bed Cargo Smugglers Bay (Remove and Install).
  24. Use a screwdriver to puncture the label to access the phase out cover bolts.

    Note
    The label is one time use; discard after removal.
  25. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the phase out cover to the vehicle, and then remove the cover from the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft) +20 deg
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx Plus EP10
  26. Use a plastic trim tool to separate the phase out cover from the vehicle, and then remove the cover.

Install

  1. Install the phase out cover into the vehicle.

    Note
    Inspect the phase out cover and O-rings. If phase out cover or O-rings are damaged, replace it with a new unit.
  2. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the phase out cover to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft) +20 deg
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx Plus EP10
  3. Install a new warning label onto the phase out cover.
  4. Install the bed cargo tub. See Bed Cargo Tub - Bed Cargo Smugglers Bay (Remove and Install).
  5. Install the RH bed side wall. See Bed Side Wall - Bed Side Wall - LH (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the RH bed closeout panel. See Truck Bed - Rear Bed Closeout - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Position the RH upper bed side wall assembly into the vehicle, connect the electrical connector, and then secure the clips (x8) that attach the side wall to the vehicle.

    Replace any missing or damaged clips.

    Lift tonneau seal as needed.
  8. Position the RH tonneau rail seal into the vehicle, press the seal into the groove, and then secure the rear clip.
  9. Install the RH sail applique. See Truck Bed Exterior Trim - Sail Applique Assembly - RH (Remove and Install).
  10. Repeat step 5 through step 9 for the LH side of the vehicle.
  11. Install the bed floor assembly. See Truck Bed - Bed Floor Assembly (Remove and Install).
  12. With assistance, position the bed cargo tub lid into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the lid to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

  13. Install the LH and RH bed cargo tub struts. See Tonneau - Bed Cargo Tub Strut (Remove and Install).
  14. Close the bed cargo tub lid.
  15. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  16. Close the tonneau cover.
  17. Close the tailgate.
  18. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
