Sensor - Powertrain - High Pressure - Supermanifold (Remove and Install)

Correction code 1840114021 FRT 0.54 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the correction code and FRT listed above reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure you are wearing proper PPE when performing the procedure below. NOTE: See Ergonomic Precautions for safe and healthy working practices.

Warning
This procedure is a DRAFT. Although it has been validated, Warnings and Cautions might be missing. Follow safety requirements and use extreme caution when working on or near High Voltage systems and components.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Put the vehicle in Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  3. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  4. Navigate to Refrigerant System on the vehicle touchscreen.
    Note
Touch Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System
  5. Touch Start Thermal Fill Drain (Refrigerant only).
    Note
Allow routine to complete. Ensure routine is successful.
  6. Open the powered frunk.
  7. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the frunk. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Disconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  10. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  11. Disconnect the supermanifold controller electrical connectors (x2).
    Note
    Release the locking tabs
    Note
    x1 harness clip
  12. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the supermanifold controller to the supermanifold.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T40 socket
  13. Disconnect the PT sensor electrical connectors (x3).
    Note
    Release the locking tabs.
  14. Remove the supermanifold harness with standalone controller.
    Note
    x3 bolts, 8 mm, 8 Nm
    Note
Gently pull outwards to release the supermanifold harness with standalone controller from the supermanifold. Set aside for access to the supermanifold.
  15. Remove the high pressure PT sensor from the supermanifold.
    Note
Loosen with ratchet, and then remove by hand.
    Note
For Sensata sensors, use a 24 mm thin wall. For Bridgeport sensors, use a 21 mm.
    CAUTION
Must use special tool. Regular 24 mm or 21 mm socket will damage connector housing.
    Note
High pressure PT sensor connector color is black.

Install

  1. Lubricate the high pressure PT sensor threads and O-ring with ND-11 oil.
  2. Hand start the high pressure PT sensor until the O-ring contacts the supermanifold.
  3. Gradually hand tighten the high pressure PT sensor while slightly backing off to walk the O-ring into the fully seated position. This will avoid pinching the O-ring on the outside edge of the supermanifold, which can cause a leak.
    Note
Takes multiple cycles to properly seat.
  4. Torque the high pressure PT sensor.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Note
For Sensata sensors, use 24 mm thin wall. For Bridgeport sensors, use 21 mm.
    CAUTION
Must use special tool. Regular 24 mm or 21 mm socket will damage connector housing.
    Note
High pressure PT sensor connector color is black.
  5. Install the supermanifold harness with standalone controller.
    Note
    x3 bolts, 8 mm
    Note
Position the supermanifold harness with standalone controller onto supermanifold. Press inwards to secure harness on the supermanifold.
  6. Connect the PT sensor electrical connectors (x3).
    Note
    Engage the locking tabs.
  7. Install the screws (x3) that attach the supermanifold controller to the supermanifold.
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T40 socket
  8. Connect the supermanifold electrical connectors (x2).
    Note
    Secure the locking tabs.
    Note
    x1 harness clip
  9. Perform the A/C Vacuum and Run Leak Test. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  10. Perform the A/C refrigerant recharge. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  11. Reconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  12. Perform the A/C performance tests. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  13. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  14. Install the frunk. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  15. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  16. Close the powered frunk.
  17. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
