Front Knuckle - Hub and Bearing - Front Knuckle Assembly - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for "TAS service run".

Click the TAS Enter Service Run Mode,
and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete.
NoteClick the X at the top right of window to close once complete.
- Click the Actions tab, and then search for "TAS deflate".

Click the TAS Deflate Component, and
then click Run.
Allow the routine to complete.
NoteSelect "FL" from the drop-down menu. Click the X at the top right of window to close once complete.
- Remove the LH front wheel cap. See Wheel Cover - Front - LH (Remove and Install).

Loosen the LH front wheel lug nuts
(x6)..Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm deep socket

Loosen the LH front halfshaft
bolt.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
-
Raise the vehicle fully.
NoteSet to a comfortable working height. Lower to locks. Ensure locks engage on both sides to prevent tilting.

Remove the nuts (x6) that attach the
wheel to the hub, and then remove the wheel from the vehicle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm deep socket

Remove the bolt that attaches the LH
front halfshaft.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the LH
front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
LH front caliper to the knuckle, and then set the caliper aside with an S-hook
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
NoteThe rotor will be loose until the caliper is installed. -
Remove the LH front brake rotor from
the hub.

Remove the nut that attaches the LH
tie rod end to the knuckle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm socket

Remove the LH tie rod end from the
knuckle.
-
Disconnect the LH front wheel speed
sensor electrical connector, and then remove the bolt that attaches the LH front wheel
speed sensor to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
-
Remove the clips (x2) that attach the
LH front chassis jumper electrical harness to the knuckle.
-
Position and raise the pole jack onto
the LH front lower control arm.
-
Remove the nut that attaches the LH
front upper control arm to the knuckle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket
NoteUse a step ladder as needed. -
Lower and remove the pole jack from
the LH front lower control arm.

Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the
LH front hub and brake shield to the knuckle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket
Notex1 tabNoteShield will be loose until the hub is installed. Move the halfshaft aside. -
Remove the nut that attaches the LH
front knuckle to the lower control arm.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
Install

Install the nut that attaches the LH
front knuckle to the lower control arm.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket

Install the bolts (x4) that attach the
LH front hub and brake shield to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket
Notex1 tabNotePosition the shield onto the hub.NoteMove the halfshaft aside. -
Partially install the LH front
halfshaft bolt.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
NoteDo not tighten the bolt at this time. The bolt will be tighten later in this procedure. -
Hand tighten the LH front halfshaft
onto the knuckle.
NoteTorque the bolt at a later step in this procedure.NoteHold the knuckle against the halfshaft, and then rotate the hub until splines click. Engage the splines, and then hand tighten the bolt. If the splines are properly engaged, the hub will rotate the halfshaft.

Position and raise the pole jack onto
the LH front lower control arm.

Install the nut that attaches the LH
front upper control arm to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket
NoteUse a step stool as needed. -
Lower and remove the pole jack from
the LH front lower control arm.
-
Install the clips (x2) that attach the
LH front chassis jumper electrical harness to the knuckle.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the LH front wheel speed sensor to the knuckle, and
then connect the sensor electrical connector.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
-
Position the LH tie rod end onto the
knuckle.
-
Install the nut that attaches the LH
tie rod end to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 21 mm socket
-
Position the LH front brake
rotor.
NoteThe rotor will be loose until the caliper is installed.

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
LH front caliper to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
NoteRecommend assistance.NoteThe rotor will be loose until the caliper is installed. -
Install the bolt that attaches the LH
front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket

Install the LH front wheel, and then
hand tighten the wheel lug nuts.
NoteTightening of the lug nuts will be performed later in this procedure.

Lower the vehicle until the tires are
touching the ground.
NoteRaise lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep the locks free while the vehicle is lowered.

Tighten the LH front halfshaft
bolt.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 24 mm socket
- Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH front wheel cap. See Wheel Cover - Front - LH (Remove and Install).
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for "TAS normal".

Click TAS Enter Normal Run Mode,
and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete.
NoteClick the X at the top right of the window to close once complete.
- Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
