Car Computer (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
  3. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  5. Remove the footwell cover.

    x3 clips, x3 magnets
  6. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Open the powered frunk.
  9. Place the vehicle in Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  10. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  11. Remove the mid IP panel. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the lower IP panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the glove box. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  14. Remove the car computer drip guard.

  15. Release the harness clips (x2) and disconnect the upper car computer electrical connectors (x4).

    Release the locking tabs.

    Set the electrical harness aside once disconnected from the car computer.
  16. Remove the anti-kick bracket.

    x1 nut, x1 bolt, 10 mm, 13 Nm
  17. Disconnect the lower car computer electrical connectors.

    x9 connectors

    Release the locking tabs.
  18. Place absorbent mats under the car computer.

    Make sure that coolant does NOT spill onto electrical components.
  19. Release the spring clips (x2) for the car computer coolant hoses.

    Plug the hoses upon removal.

    Use a coolant jug to catch as much coolant as possible.

    Tuck the hoses out of way once plugged.
  20. Remove the bolt, nuts (x3) and ground bolt that attach the car computer to the body, and then remove the car computer from the vehicle.
    13 Nm (9.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Note
    Makes sure that the electrical harness is not caught during removal of the car computer.

Install

  1. Fasten the bolt, nuts (x3), and ground bolt that attach the car computer to the vehicle.
    13 Nm (9.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Note
    Make sure that the electrical harness is not pinched during installation of the car computer.
  2. Connect the car computer coolant hoses.

    x2 spring clips

    Remove the plugs from hoses

    Lubricate the o-rings with fresh coolant.

    Use a coolant jug to catch any residual coolant.

    CAUTION
    Do not force coolant fittings into place as o-rings could be damaged.

    Perform a push-pull-push test on each hose connection.
  3. Remove the absorbent mats from under the car computer.

    Make sure that no coolant remains in area.
  4. Connect the lower car computer electrical connectors (x9).

    Engage the locking tabs.
  5. Install the anti-kick bracket.

    x1 nut, x1 bolt, 10 mm, 13 Nm
  6. Connect the upper car computer electrical connectors (x4) and fasten the harness clips (x2).

    Engage the locking tabs.
  7. Install the car computer drip guard.

  8. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  9. Remove the coolant bottle cap.
  10. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock),
  11. Select "Start Coolant Air Purge" using the touchscreen.

    Wait until the coolant pumps stop running (audible noise).

    Routine "Passed" will appear, but the coolant pumps will run for 10 minutes.

    CAUTION
    If you start next another routine during this time, it will fail.

    Make sure vehicle is not in "Drive". Putting vehicle in "Drive" will stop this routine.

    If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked, perform a vacuum fill.

    Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle.
  12. Install the glove box. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  13. Install the lower IP panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  14. Install the mid IP panel. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  15. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  16. Install the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Install the footwell cover.

  18. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  20. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary..

    Make sure that the coolant fluid level is at the Max line. Top off fluid as required.
  21. Install the coolant bottle cap.
  22. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  23. Close the powered frunk.
  24. Raise the RH front window and close the RH front door.
  25. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  26. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
