Closure Panels - Assembly - Rear Door - Left (Remove and Install)

Remove
- Open the LH doors and lower the LH rear window.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH rear beltline assembly. See Rear Door Trim Pad - Beltline Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH rear door inner waist belt seal. See Front and Rear Door Seals - Inner Waist Belt Seal, Rear Door, LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH rear door outer waist belt seal. See Front and Rear Door Seals - Outer Waist Belt Seal, Rear Door, LH (Remove and Install).
- Raise the LH rear window.
- Remove the LH rear door trim. See Rear Door Trim Pad - Door Trim Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH rear door moving glass. See Door Glass - Moving Glass - Rear LH (Remove and Install).
- Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.

Release the locking tabs and
disconnect the LH rear door harness connectors (x4), and then release the clips (x5)
that attach the harness to the LH rear door closeout panel.

Remove the bolts (x13) and release the
datums (x2) that attach the LH rear door closeout panel to the door assembly, and then
remove the closeout panel from the door assembly.
NoteGently pry the panel to release the datums (x2).NotePull the bottom portion of the panel away from the door assembly, and then lower the assembly to allow clearance for the regulator rails.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
- 10 mm socket

Release the connector lock, and then
disconnect the LH rear door latch harness electrical connector.

Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
LH rear door latch to the door assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
-
Release the grommet, and then remove
the LH rear door latch from the door assembly.
-
Release the locking tab, and then
disconnect the LH rear door presenter harness electrical connector.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
LH rear door presenter to the door assembly, and then remove the presenter from the door
assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
-
Release the check strap closeout, and
then remove the fasteners (x3) that attach the LH rear door check strap to the
vehicle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T40 socket
- 10 mm socket

Rotate the LH rear door check strap 90
degrees, and then remove the check strap from the vehicle.

Release the clips (x16) that attach
the LH rear door secondary seal to the door assembly, and then remove the seal from the
door assembly.
NoteStart from the outer edge of the seal. Use a trim pry tool to prevent clips from breaking inside the door.

Release the grommet and clips (x3)
that attach the door closure device harness to the door assembly, and then remove the
harness from the door assembly.

Release the grommet from the LH rear
door harness connector at the B-pillar, and pull back to expose the connector and
harness wires.
-
Apply gentle tension to the harness
wires, and use a pick to press down on the inner tang in the top half of the harness
connector.
-
Continue to apply gentle tension to
the harness wires, and use the pick to press up on the inner tang in the bottom half of
the harness connector, and then disconnect the harness from the B-pillar
connector.

Release the grommet and clips (x3)
that attach the LH rear door harness to the door interior, and then move the harness out
through the door opening.

Remove the LH rear door overslam
bumper.
NoteThe bumper is secured to the door with 2 tabs.
-
With assistance, remove the nuts (x2)
that attach the LH rear door to the vehicle, and then remove the door from the
vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 15 mm socket
Install
-
With assistance, position the LH rear
door to the vehicle, and then install the nuts (x2) that attach the door to the
vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 15 mm socket

Install the LH rear door overslam
bumper.
-
Move the LH rear door harness in
through the door opening, and then fasten the grommet and clips (x3) that attach the
harness to the door interior.
NoteSeat the grommet and verify it is fully installed. Use a plastic trim tool to push grommet into place if required
-
Fasten the grommet to the LH rear door
harness connector, and then firmly press the harness to the B-pillar connector.
NotePerform a Push-Pull-Push check of the connector.

Position the door closure device harness into the door assembly, and then install the
grommet and clips (x3) that attach the harness to the door assembly.

Position the LH rear door secondary seal onto the door assembly, and then install the
clips (x16) that attach the seal to the door assembly.
NoteThe clip that is a different color is installed on the outer edge.

Position the LH rear door check into
the door assembly, and then rotate the strap 90 degrees.

Install the fasteners (x3) that attach the LH rear door check strap to the vehicle,
and then secure the check strap closeout.NoteTorque the nuts (x2) to 8.5 Nm, and the bolt to 23 Nm.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T40 socket
- 10 mm socket

Position the LH rear door presenter into the door assembly, and then install the
bolts (x2) that attach the presenter to the door assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket

Connect the LH rear door presenter harness electrical connector, and then secure the
connector lock.

Position the LH rear door latch into the door assembly, and then install the bolts
(x3).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket

Connect the LH rear door latch harness electrical connector, and then secure the
connector lock.

Install the grommet.
NoteUse the tab on the emergency release to guide the grommet.

Position the LH rear door closeout panel to the door assembly, and then install the
bolts (x13) and datums (x2) that attach the closeout panel to the door assembly.NoteTorque the 8mm bolts (x11) to 4 Nm, and the 10 mm bolts (x2) to 12 Nm.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
- 10 mm socket

Connect the LH rear door harness connectors (x4) and secure the connector locks, and
then install the clips (x5) that attach the harness to the LH rear door closeout
panel.

Connect an external window
switch.
-
Position the LH rear door glass into
the vehicle, and then install and hand tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the glass to
the vehicle.
CAUTIONBe careful of the glass slipping off the mount.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Pull the emergency cable to manually
unlatch the LH rear door.
- Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
- Close the LH rear door.

Check and adjust gap and
flushness.
NoteConnect an external window switch to help with adjustment.
- Open the LH rear door.
-
Torque the bolts (x2) that attach the
LH rear window to the regulator.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Install the LH rear door grommets
(x4).
- Disconnect the external window switch.
- Install the LH rear door outer waist belt seal. See Front and Rear Door Seals - Outer Waist Belt Seal, Rear Door, LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH rear door inner waist belt seal. See Front and Rear Door Seals - Inner Waist Belt Seal, Rear Door, LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH rear door trim. See Rear Door Trim Pad - Door Trim Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH rear beltline assembly. See Rear Door Trim Pad - Beltline Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
- Raise the LH rear window.
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Close the LH doors.
