MV Battery - Recover

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Slide eCPA to left on MV battery connector then lift lever to release

    1x connector, Release eCPA by pushing down to unlock and slide red locking tab to LH
  3. Secure MV battery maintainer and support vehicle

    1x cover, Secure MV maintainer but leave the Li-ion battery disconnected, Secure positive terminal to jump post, Secure negative terminal to bolt located between brake fluid reservoir and front trunk, Connect maintainer to power supply, DO NOT allow positive cable to make contact with other metal components, Prevent shorting the cables

  4. Slide eCPA to right and ensure slide is seated against black lever

  5. Open LH front door

    Push LH B-pillar door trigger to release
  6. Lower LH front window
  7. Unlock vehicle gateway

    After vehicle has been put into "Service Mode", place keycard on center console to turn on drive rails, hold down the brake pedal, while keep pressing right hand signal button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, "GTW UNLOCKING" should pop up on the UI right next to the VIN during these 10 seconds, once gateway is unlocked "GTW UNLOCKED 5400" will be displayed on the UI next to the VIN, the gateway will remain unlocked for 90 minutes, follow steps on Toolbox article #5582900 for any additional information
  8. Place vehicle in service mode

    Via UI > Controls > Software, Touch and hold "Cybertruck" for 2 seconds then release, Use screen keyboard to type "service" into dialog box then select OK
  9. Remove MV battery maintainer

    1x cover, Unplug the maintainer first, then remove positive and negative leads from jump posts, Re-secure any jump post covers
  10. Verify the status of the MV battery.

    If after 2 minutes of PCS support, alerts VCLEFT_a478_LVBMS_MOSFET_Open or VCBATT_a478_LVBMS_MOSFET_Open are present, the MV battery has not auto-recovered. Auto-recovery can be manually attempted via touchscreen or Toolbox:
    • Touchscreen:Service Mode > Mid Voltage > Power Distribution > Close MOSFET
    • Toolbox: Run the ActionPROC_VCFRONT_X_RECONNECT-LV-BATTERYSearch for routine in ToolboxLVBMS Reconnect LV BatteryLow Voltage / Power Distribution - Close MOSFET

    If the steps above do not succeed in auto-recovering the MV battery, recover the battery using the Tesla Li-Ion battery charger (STILL IN DEVELOPMENT).
    • Verify that the battery is not discharging at high current and is not self-protecting.
    • Go to Service Mode > Mid Voltage > Power Distribution > MV Battery and confirm that MV battery SoC is increasing.
    • Verify that the MV Battery MOSFET status is Closed.
  11. Exit Service Mode

    Via UI > Service > Exit, Press and hold "Exit Service Mode" button
  12. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
