Remove
- Remove the HVAC distribution. See Cabin HVAC - HVAC Distribution (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH downleg dash bracket. See Dash Support Frame - IP Downleg Bracket LH (Remove and Install).
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
RH downleg dash bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the bracket from the
vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
car computer drip guard to the vehicle, and then remove the drip guard from the
vehicle.
-
Release the locking tabs and
disconnect the upper car computer electrical connectors (x4), release the harness clips
(x2), and then set the harness aside.
-
Release the locking tabs, and then
disconnect the lower car computer electrical connectors (x9).
-
Place absorbent mats under the car
computer.
CAUTIONMake sure coolant does not spill onto electrical components.
- Place a coolant jug underneath the car computer coolant hoses.
-
Release the spring clips, disconnect
the car computer coolant hoses (x2), and then plug all the fittings.
NoteUse the coolant jug to catch as much coolant as possible.NoteRemove the lower hose first, and then the upper hose.NoteTuck the hoses aside once plugged.
-
Remove the fasteners (x5) that attach
the car computer to the vehicle, and then remove the car computer from the vehicle.CAUTIONMake sure the harness is not caught during removal.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Slowly loosen the bolts (x2) that
secures the locking cover to the RH MV controller, making sure that the cover separates
from the controller squarely, and does not bind.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove locking cover. Loosen until the bolt spins freely.NoteMake sure the bolts and locking cover are fully released before attempting to release the connectors.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse power tools to loosen the bolt. -
Disconnect the RH MV controller
electrical connectors (x7).
NoteDo not remove the locking cover.NoteEach connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.Tip: Use a pocket screwdriver to press one of the connector tabs while pressing the other tab by hand.
-
Release the red locking tab, and then
disconnect the SFA electrical connector from the RH MV controller.
-
Release the RH MV controller harness
clips (x7).
-
Remove the LH carpet support
foam.
NoteLift up from the rear edge.
-
Release the harness clips (x5) from
the LH MV controller.
-
Release the locking tabs, and then
disconnect the X0012 (Steering Column), X0013 (Etherloop), and X0014 (Car Computer)
electrical connectors from the LH MV controller.
-
Slowly loosen the bolt that secures
the locking cover to the LH MV controller, making sure that the cover separates from the
controller squarely, and does not bind.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse power tools to loosen the bolt. -
Disconnect the LH MV controller dry
side electrical connectors (x2).
CAUTIONDo not attempt to remove the connectors until the locking cover has been fully released. Removing a connector while the locking cover is still partially engaged could damage the harness connector.NoteEach connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards in order for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.Tip: Press the connector locking tab by hand, and then use a pocket screwdriver to press the locking tab on the other side of the connector.
-
Disconnect the electrical connectors
(x2) from feedback actuator, remove the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column
assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the assembly and place it on a suitable work
surface.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
steering feedback actuator to the steering column, slide the actuator away from the
steering column, and then remove the set screws (x2) to remove the actuator from the
assembly.NoteIf needed, apply heat to the set screws to help break the threadlock.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- 3 mm bit
-
With assistance, remove the dash NVH
pad.
NoteUsing assistance, guide the harnesses through the appropriate openings.
Install
-
With assistance, position the dash NVH
pad into the vehicle.
NoteUsing assistance, guide the harnesses through the appropriate openings.
-
Position the steering feedback
actuator to the steering column, install new set screws (x2), and then slide the
actuator onto the steering column and install the bolts (x3).NoteApply threadlock to the set screws before installation.NoteThe 13 mm bolts are torqued to 20 Nm, and then 3 mm to 7 Nm.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- 3 mm bit
-
Position the steering column assembly
into the vehicle, install the nuts (x4) that attach the assembly to the vehicle, and
then connect the electrical connectors (x2) to the actuator.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Connect the LH MV controller dry side
electrical connectors (x2).
NoteCarefully insert the connectors through the locking covers, and then gently wiggle the connector heads to ensure they are correctly inserted.NoteMake sure the pins on the connector are aligned before fastening the locking cover bolts.NoteThe connectors should be slightly loose, but the tab engagement will prevent them from being disconnected.
-
Slowly tighten the bolt that secures
the locking cover to the LH MV controller, making sure that the cover is square to the
controller, and does not bind.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteIf the cover binds, loosen the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then tighten the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.Tip: While tightening the bolt, press the connector into the controller to keep it square. -
Connect the X0012 (Steering Column),
X0013 (Etherloop), and X0014 (Car Computer) electrical connectors to the controller, and
then secure the connector locks.
NoteMake sure the connectors are fully connected before engaging the locking tabs.
-
Secure the harness clips (x5) onto the
LH MV controller.
-
Install the LH carpet support
foam.
NoteSeat at the rear edge.
-
Position the accelerator pedal into
the vehicle, feed the extension harness through the carpet, connect the electrical
connector and engage the connector lock, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the
pedal to the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Secure the harness clips (x7) onto the
RH MV controller.
