Oil Pump - Rear Drive Unit - LH (Tri Motor) (Remove and Install)

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - Rear (Remove and Install).
  4. Disconnect LHS RDU oil pump connector

  5. Position oil drain underneath RDU
  6. Remove bolts securing RDU oil pump

    2x bolts, EP10, 5 Nm + 20 degrees
  7. Remove RDU oil pump

    Note
    Carefully insert plastic wedge between pump and housing, In small increments work wedge between housing and pump until green O-ring is visible, Residual oil will drain from housing, Allow oil to drain
  8. Position RDU oil pump

    Lubricate seals before installation
  9. Install bolts securing RDU oil pump

    2x bolts, EP10, 5 Nm + 20 degrees
  10. Connect LHS RDU oil pump connector

    1x plug, 8mm Allen, 15 Nm, Verify O-ring is not damaged, Replace O-ring as needed, Tooling used for torque is still in development
  12. Set up fill kit with KAF1

    Add extra oil to container as it will prevent underfill and additional air being injectedOnly use KAF1 fluid, Do not interchange or mix oil types
  13. Position oil pump hose into fill hole
  14. Pump fluid into rear drive unit

    Pump fluid into drive unit until fluid spills outUse excess gearbox fluid in fill container to allow oil pump to dispense fluid without drawing air, Make sure that there is less than 200mL left when completed
  15. Remove oil pump hose from fill port

    Turn knob to off and remove from fill hole
  16. Spray area with brake cleaner and wipe any residual fluid

    1x plug, 8mm Allen, 15 Nm, Verify O-ring is not damaged, Replace O-ring as needed, Tooling used for torque is still in development
  18. Remove oil drain from underneath vehicle
  19. Install the rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - Rear (Remove and Install).
  20. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  21. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
