Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the LH and RH bump stops (x2).

  4. Remove the bolt caps (2) and bolt covers from the floor of the underhood storage unit, and then remove the bolts (x6) that attach the underhood storage unit to the vehicle.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Do not release the underhood storage unit from the vehicle as there is still a harness attached.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  5. Remove the windshield washer fluid cap.
  6. Carefully and partially lift the LH side of the underhood storage unit from the vehicle to gain access to the frunk switch harness, use a small pick to release the connector locking pin (circled) from the connector housing, and then disconnect the harness from the switch.

    CAUTION
    Do not lift the frunk assembly too much, as the electrical harness is still connected to the frunk.

    CAUTION
    The connector locking pin is not captive to the housing and can easily fall out. Only release the pin enough so that the connector housing can be removed.

  7. Release the underhood storage unit from the vehicle, and then remove the underhood storage unit from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the underhood storage unit into the vehicle, connect the safety lock connector, and then install the connector locking pin.

  2. Install the windshield washer fluid cap.
  3. Install the bolts (x6) that attach the underhood storage unit to the vehicle, and then install the bolt caps (2) and bolt covers.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)

  4. Install the LH and RH bump stops (x2).

  6. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
