Steering Column and Wheel - Steering Wheel Pur Heated (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  4. Remove the driver airbag. See Front Air Bags - Driver Airbag Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical connector.
  6. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the vehicle, and then pull the steering wheel assembly straight back to remove it.

    CAUTION
    DO NOT rotate the SCCM during removal of the steering wheel. Rotating the SCCM during removal will cause damage to the SCCM internals. Use masking tape to tape the SCCM into position to prevent it from rotating.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm hex
    • 3 in extension

Install

  1. Align the steering wheel splines onto shaft, and then install a new bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the vehicle.
    80 Nm (59.0 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Do NOT rotate steering wheel until vehicle is powered on.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm hex
    • 3 in extension
  2. Connect the steering wheel electrical connector.
  3. Install the driver airbag. See Front Air Bags - Driver Airbag Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  5. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
