Tonneau Slats (Manual Release) (Removal)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  3. Open the tonneau cover.
  4. Open the tailgate.
  5. Open the bed cargo tub lid.
  6. Remove the bed cargo tub struts from the bed cargo tub lid and leave the struts still attached to the tub. See Strut - Bed Cargo Tub (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the bed cargo tub lid.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  8. Remove the truck bed floor assembly. See Bed Floor Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the LH and RH rear bed closeouts. See Bed Closeout - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the LH and RH upper bed side wall assemblies. See Bed Side Wall Assembly - Upper - LH (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the LH and RH bed side walls. See Bed Side Wall - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Disconnect the LH tonneau motor electrical connector, and then remove the bolts (x2) that attach the motor to the body. Repeat this step for the RH tonneau motor.
    11 Nm (8.1 lbs-ft)

  13. Manually guide the tonneau slats system and chain out of the bed rails to the midway closed position.

    Unwind the tonneau slats system from the bottom to release the tension and raise slats onto the upper bed rails to the midway closed position.

    CAUTION
    Tonneau system slat are not restricted or held onto motors and can move freely on the bed rails.
  14. Remove the LH and RH sail appliques. See:

  16. Remove the rear lamp closeout applique. See Applique - Closeout - Lamp - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LH tonneau rail slip datum. Repeat this step for the RH tonneau rail slip datum.
    11 Nm (8.1 lbs-ft)

  18. Remove the LH tonneau rail slip datum. Repeat this step for the RH tonneau rail slip datum.
  19. Remove the LH tailgate bump stop. Repeat this step for the RH tailgate bump stop.

    Rotate, and then release inboard.
  20. Install the tonneau transfer frame onto the powertrain table.

  21. Position the tonneau transfer frame onto the tonneau bed rails.

  22. Align and secure tonneau transfer frame onto tonneau bed rails.

Install

  1. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the RH tonneau motor to the body, and then connect the motor electrical connector. Repeat this step for the LH tonneau motor.
    11 Nm (8.1 lbs-ft)

  2. Position tonneau transfer frame onto tonneau bed rails.

    Lay tonneau chain on tailgate and secure ends to prevent breakdown or shifting, Use tape or bungees as needed, Connect air supply, Raise and adjust angle on powertrain table as needed, Frame TPN: 1999662-00-A.
  3. Manually guide remaining tonneau slats and chain onto bed rails.

    Recommend assistance, 2x pins, Evenly guide slats in then install pins, Monitor Y reaction clips entering bed rails and ensure clips do not bind, Monitor slats during install and ensure all are squared during install, Adjust as needed, Frame TPN: 1999662-00-A
  4. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  5. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for "Tonneau."
  6. Click Tonneau Cover Calibration, and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete.

  7. Secure tonneau chain onto motors.

  8. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  9. Remove tonneau transfer frame from tonneau bed rails.

  10. Install the RH tailgate bump stop. Repeat this step for the LH tailgate bump stop.

    Rotate and secure.
  11. Install the RH tonneau rail slip datum. Repeat this step for the LH tonneau rail slip.

    Set 2 mm space between the datum and the end of bed rail.
  12. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the RH tonneau rail slip datum. Repeat this step for the LH tonneau rail slip datum.

    Hand start the center black locating bolt first.
  13. Install the RH tail lamp applique. Repeat this step for the LH tail lamp applique.

  14. Install the LH and RH water management seal. See Water Management Seal - LH - Center - Tonneau (Remove and Install).

  17. Install the LH and RH rear bed closeouts. See Bed Closeout - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Install the LH and RH upper bed side wall assemblies. See Bed Side Wall Assembly - Upper - LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the truck bed floor assembly. See Bed Floor Assembly (Remove and Install).
  20. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the bed cargo tub lid.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Position the bed cargo tub lid onto the vehicle. Install the bolts that attach the bed cargo tub lid onto the hinges.
  21. Install the bed cargo tub struts. See Strut - Bed Cargo Tub (Remove and Install).
  22. Close the tonneau cover.
  23. Close the tailgate.
