Cybertruck electronics are powered by a 48V "mid voltage" or "MV" architecture that is designed to improve efficiency. Servicing MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Navigate to Refrigerant System through UI

    Select Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System
  5. Select "Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant and Refrigerant)" through UI

  6. Open the powered frunk.
  7. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged
  8. Remove lower valence fasteners

    2x clips, 2x covers, 6x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, Release covers to expose bolts
  9. Remove front aero shield

  10. Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle
  11. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  12. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  14. Disconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  15. Remove front center applique

  21. Remove front lower fascia assembly

  22. Disconnect CFM connectors

  25. Disconnect radiator to manifold hose from radiator and plug connections

  28. Remove upper CFM fasteners

  30. Remove active grille shutter from cooling fan module assembly

  53. Reconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  54. Access thermal system routines using the UI

    • Thermal ➜ Refrigerant System ➜ Stop Refrigerant Fill/Drain
    via Service Mode Plus:
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Stop Fluid Fill/Drain
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Stop Fluid Fill/Drain
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Stop Fluid Fill/Drain

  56. Select "Start Coolant Air Purge" using the UI

    Touch time only, wait until coolant pumps stop running (audible noise), Routine Passed will appear, but pumps will run for 10 minutes, If you start next another routine during this time it will fail, Make sure vehicle is not in "Drive", Routine is still running despite the completed message, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valves between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into "Drive" will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked, perform a vacuum fill, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle

  59. Install lower valence fasteners

  60. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  61. Perform Thermal Performance through the UI

    Select Thermal > Actions > Test Thermal Performance, click Run, close once routine is completed
  62. Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  63. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  64. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  65. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  66. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
