Correction code 40300105 FRT 0.54 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. 1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
4. Remove the mid-aero shield. See Undertray - Mid Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
5. Remove the rear aero shield. See Undertray - Rear Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
6. Position an oil drain container underneath the rear drive unit.

   

7. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH side of the acoustic cover to the lower portion of the acoustic cover.

   

8. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH side of the acoustic cover to the drive unit assembly.

   

   

   

9. Assemble the tools required to correctly torque the drain and fill bolts.
   • 1450424-00-A - SET, 1/2" CUT BIT
   • 1450424-00-A - DOUBLE END MINI RATCHET
   • 1115137-00-A - SKT, 1/4" DR, HEX BIT, METRIC, 6MM
   • 1965406-00-A - TORQUE WRENCH, DIGITAL+ANGLE, 3/8" DR, FLEX HEAD, 13.5~135Nm

   

   

10. Remove the oil fill plug from the rear drive unit.
    TIp

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Double end mini ratchet
    • 8 mm hex

    

    

    

11. Set up fill kit with KAF1 fluid.
    Note

    Add extra fluid to container as it will prevent underfill and additional air being injected.

    CAUTION

    Only use KAF1 fluid; do not interchange or mix fluid types.

    

12. Position the oil pump hose into the fill hole.

    

    

13. Turn the lever on the fill hose to the "ON" position, and then pump fluid into the rear drive unit until fluid spills out.
    CAUTION

    If over 500 mL of gearbox fluid was added to the drive unit, additional diagnosis may be needed.

    Note

    Use excess gearbox fluid in fill container to allow oil pump to dispense fluid without drawing air.

    Note

    Make sure that there is less than 200 mL remaining when fill is complete.

    

    

14. Turn the lever on the fill hose to the "OFF" position, and then remove the oil pump hose from the fill port.

    

    

15. Using the tools listed in the previous step, install the fill plug into the drive unit and torque the bolt to specification.
    CAUTION

    While using the extension, set the digital torque wrench to 11 Nm. The resulting torque on the bolt will be 15 Nm with the extension.

    CAUTION

    If using tools not listed in this procedure, make sure the final torque on the bolt is 15 Nm.

    Note

    Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace if needed.

    

    

16. Spray the area with brake cleaner and wipe away any residual fluid.

    

17. Remove the oil drain container from underneath vehicle.
18. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH side of the acoustic cover to the drive unit.
    Note

    Route cover between subframe and axle.

    

    

    

    

    

19. Install the rear aeroshield. See Undertray - Rear Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
20. Install the mid-aero shield. See Undertray - Mid Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
21. Lower the vehicle fully.
22. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
23. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
24. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
