-
Remove the oil fill plug from the rear
drive unit.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Double end mini ratchet
- 8 mm hex
-
Set up fill kit with KAF1 fluid.
NoteAdd extra fluid to container as it will prevent underfill and additional air being injected.CAUTIONOnly use KAF1 fluid; do not interchange or mix fluid types.
- Position the oil pump hose into the fill hole.
-
Turn the lever on the fill hose to the
"ON" position, and then pump fluid into the rear drive unit until fluid spills out.
CAUTIONIf over 500 mL of gearbox fluid was added to the drive unit, additional diagnosis may be needed.NoteUse excess gearbox fluid in fill container to allow oil pump to dispense fluid without drawing air.NoteMake sure that there is less than 200 mL remaining when fill is complete.
- Turn the lever on the fill hose to the "OFF" position, and then remove the oil pump hose from the fill port.
-
Using the tools listed in the previous
step, install the fill plug into the drive unit and torque the bolt to
specification.
CAUTIONWhile using the extension, set the digital torque wrench to 11 Nm. The resulting torque on the bolt will be 15 Nm with the extension.CAUTIONIf using tools not listed in this procedure, make sure the final torque on the bolt is 15 Nm.NoteInspect the O-ring for damage and replace if needed.
- Spray the area with brake cleaner and wipe away any residual fluid.
- Remove the oil drain container from underneath vehicle.
-
Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH
side of the acoustic cover to the drive unit.
NoteRoute cover between subframe and axle.
- Install the rear aeroshield. See Undertray - Rear Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
- Install the mid-aero shield. See Undertray - Mid Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
- Lower the vehicle fully.
- Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
