Remove
- This procedure requires refrigerant evacuation and recharge. Add specific evacuation and recharge correction code as needed.
-
Set up the A/C machine.
NoteConnect to power. Turn power switch on.
- On the touchscreen, touch to enable Jack Mode.
- Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
- On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to ..
-
Tap Start Thermal Fill Drain (Refrigerant
only), and allow the routine to complete.
NoteMake sure the routine is successful.
- Open the powered frunk.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the frunk. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
- Perform Vehicle HV Disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
- Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
-
Remove bolt that attaches the brake
fluid reservoir to the vehicle, and then lift the reservoir to release it from the datum
and position the assembly aside.CAUTIONDo not allow the reservoir to tip over.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Release the connector lock, and then
disconnect the A/C compressor logic electrical connector.
NoteDo not push down on red tab. Pull to disengage lock, and then pull again to release the electrical connector.
-
Release the connector lock, and then
disconnect the A/C Compressor HV harness electrical connector from the A/C
Compressor.
NotePull the red locking tab away from the black lever, and then slide the black lever upwards.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C
compressor ground strap, and then release the harness edge clip.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
With assistance supporting the A/C
compressor, remove bolts (x3) that attach the A/C compressor to the Megabeam, and then
carefully maneuver the compressor towards the front of the vehicle and under the
Megabeam. Place a fender cover over the fan housing and gently place the compressor
down.NoteAvoid straining the MV or HV harnesses.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the refrigerant suction and discharge lines from the A/C compressor, and then remove the lines from the A/C compressor.NoteMake sure that the washers do not remain on the A/C compressor.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
Install
-
Install the A/C flush adapters onto
the suction and discharge lines on the A/C compressor side.NoteUse 13 mm nuts from the A/C compressor to secure the flush adapters.NoteInspect O-rings and replace them, if damaged.NoteLeave the seal washers on the A/C manifold line.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Perform the A/C System Flush
procedure.
NoteSystem flush procedure runs for approximately 90 minutes. Minimum of 3200g of refrigerant needed in the tank to run system flush procedure. On the A/C machine main menu, select. Enter 25 min vacuum time and open .NoteA/C machine will perform multiple flush cycles.NoteAllow process to complete.
-
Remove the compressor assembly from
the vehicle.
-
Release the tabs (x5) that secure the
NVH cover to the old A/C compressor, and then remove the NVH cover from the
compressor.
-
Position the NVH cover onto the new
A/C compressor, and then engage the tabs (x5).
NoteMake sure that the NVH cover is secured before continuing to the next step.
-
Install the refrigerant suction and
discharge lines to the A/C compressor, and then install the nuts (x2).NoteInstall new washer seals.NotePosition the A/C lines onto the studs, and then install the nuts.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
With assistance positioning and
supporting the A/C compressor to the Megabeam, install the bolts (x3) that attach the
A/C compressor to the Megabeam.NoteSupport the A/C compressor while installing the fasteners.NoteStart bolts by hand, and then torque the bolts to specification.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Align the datum on the remote brake
fluid reservoir to the guide, slide the reservoir downward into position, and then
install the bolt that attaches the reservoir to the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Connect the AC Compressor HV harness
to the AC Compressor, and then secure the connector lock.
NoteSlide the black lever down, and then push the red lock inwards.CAUTIONMake sure the red locking tab is pushed all the way in. The red locking tab should sit flush with the black lever.NoteThe black tab will protrude from the red locking tab when engaged correctly.NotePerform a push-pull-push test to ensure the connector is fully connected.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the A/C
compressor ground strap to the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
