  • 2026-01-21: Released new procedure.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Remove the rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - Rear (Remove and Install).
  4. Position an oil drain container underneath the rear drive unit.
  5. Remove the oil drain plug from the rear drive unit.

  6. Remove the oil fill drain plug from the rear drive unit.

  7. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  8. Run ODIN routine PROC_DIX_X_OIL-PUMP-DRAIN-CONTROLvia Toolbox:(link).

    Note
    Select RDU. Run action and allow oil to drain.
  9. Install oil drain plug onto rear drive unit.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

    Make sure the O-ring is not damaged, and replace as needed.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm hex
  10. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH side acoustic cover to the lower portion of acoustic cover.
  11. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH side acoustic cover to the drive unit assembly, and then remove the acoustic cover from the vehicle.
  12. Set up the fill kit with KAF1.

    CAUTION
    Only use KAF1 fluid. Do not interchange or mix oil types.

    Note
    Fill the oil container generously to prevent underfill and additional air being injected.
  13. Position the oil pump hose into the fill hole.
  14. Gradually pump fluid into the rear drive unit until fluid spills from the fill port, and then note the amount of fluid added.

    CAUTION
    Only use KAF1 fluid. Do not mix oil types.

    Note
    The proper fill amount could be up to 300mL. Exceeding 300mL may require further diagnosis.
  15. Turn the hose lever to the off position, and then remove the oil pump hose from the fill port.
  16. Spray the area with brake cleaner and wipe any residual fluid.
  17. Position the RH side acoustic cover onto the rear drive unit, and then engage the clips (x5) that attach the cover to the drive unit..
  18. Install the oil fill plug onto the rear drive unit.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  19. Remove oil drain from underneath vehicle.
  20. Install the rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - Rear (Remove and Install).
  21. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  22. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for "Oil Pressure".
  23. Run ODIN routine TEST-SELF_DIF_X_OIL-PUMP-PRESSUREvia Toolbox:(link)
  24. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  25. Run ODIN routine PROC_ICE_X_EXIT-SERVICE-MODEvia Toolbox:(link)
  26. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
