Skull Cap - Exterior Mirror - LH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Settings > Control > Unfold Mirrors to unfold the exterior mirrors.
  3. Remove the LH dimming exterior mirror glass. See Exterior Mirror Glass - Flat - Electrochromic Dimming - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Settings > Control > Fold to fold the mirrors inward.
  5. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the LH mirror skull cap to the mirror assembly.
    0.5 Nm (4 lbs-in)

    The T10 screw is located under the inboard edge of the mirror assembly.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T10 bit
    • Torx T15 socket
  6. Insert a trim tool between the LH mirror skull cap and bezel on the mirror assembly, and then slide the trim tool outward while pivoting upward to release outboard end of the skull cap. Lift upwards from outboard end of the skull cap to release it from the mirror assembly.

Install

  1. Position the LH mirror skull cap onto the LH exterior mirror assembly, and then apply downward pressure on the inboard and outboard edges of the skull cap to secure it to the assembly.

    Make sure the screw holes are aligned.
  2. Install the screws (x3) that attach the skull cap to the mirror assembly.
    0.5 Nm (4 lbs-in)

  3. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Settings > Control > Unfold Mirros to unfold the exterior mirrors.
  4. Install the LH dimming exterior mirror glass. See Exterior Mirror Glass - Flat - Electrochromic Dimming - LH (Remove and Install).
  5. Close the LH front door.
