Cybertruck electronics are powered by a 48V "mid voltage" or "MV" architecture that is designed to improve efficiency. Servicing MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.

  1. Open LH front door

  3. Raise and support vehicle

  5. Open tailgate

  6. Open powered front trunk

  7. Power down vehicle via UI

    Verify EPBs are engaged, Select charge port icon to ensure drive state is disengaged then power down vehicle via Controls > Safety > Power Off
  8. Remove rear underhood apron

  9. Disconnect FRL connector then disconnect MV battery connector

    2x connectors, Release locking tab then disconnect FRL connector, Slide eCPA to left then lift lever to release MV battery connector, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, Release eCPA by pushing down to unlock and slide red locking tab, Wait 2 minutes for electrical circuits to discharge before disconnecting modules

  12. Remove LH rear wheel cap

    1x cap, 8x clips, Use both hands to firmly pull wheel cap to release clips, Cap may remove with or without mounting ring attached
  13. Loosen LH rear wheel nuts

  14. Remove RH rear wheel cap

    1x cap, 8x clips, Use both hands to firmly pull wheel cap to release clips, Cap may remove with or without mounting ring attached
  15. Loosen RH rear wheel nuts

  16. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  17. Remove RH rear wheel

  18. Remove bolt securing RH rear tie rod to rear steering actuator

  19. Remove RH rear toe link from RH rear knuckle

    1x nut, 21mm, 170 Nm, Counter hold ball joint, Discard nyloc nut after removal
  20. Remove LH rear wheel

  21. Remove LH rear toe link from rear steering actuator

  22. Remove LH rear toe link from LH rear knuckle

    1x nut, 21mm, 170 Nm, Counter hold ball joint, Discard nyloc nut after removal
  23. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
  24. Disconnect rear steering actuator connector

  25. Remove bolts securing RH side of rear steering actuator onto rear subframe

  26. Remove bolts securing LH side of rear steering actuator to rear subframe

  27. Remove rear steering actuator from vehicle

    Rotate rear steering actuator onto side and pivot to the left side to release actuator out from rear subframe, Use caution when removing rear steering actuator from rear subframe, Avoid damaging any HV cable, body harness and ride height sensor
  28. Position rear steering actuator into vehicle for installation

    Rotate rear steering actuator onto side, Insert the right side of steering actuator to position onto rear subframe, Use caution when installing rear steering actuator onto rear subframe, Avoid damaging any HV cable, body harness and ride height sensor
  29. Install bolts securing LH side of rear steering actuator to rear subframe

  32. Connect FRL connector then connect MV battery connector

    2x connectors, Connect FRL connector then secure locking tab, Position lever to secure MV battery connector then slide eCPA to right, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, If power cycling vehicle then ensure at least 60 seconds has passed since powering down
  33. Perform software reinstall

    Via UI > Service Mode > Software Reinstall > CAN ECU > Reinstall, Reinstall will begin immediately, Once firmware redeploy is complete, Verify release notes are present via UI
  34. Select "Install Now" to start firmware update

    Tap center display next to software update window until clock runs down to 0,After displayed installation time, Check the center display and ensure the firmware package was successfully installed
  35. Once firmware redeploy is complete, Verify release notes are present on center display

  36. Install bed floor assembly

  45. Position and raise pole jack onto LH rear lower control arm
  46. Adjust LH rear suspension to ride height specification

    Measure from wheel housing stud to stabar link mount, Distance should be 31.8 cm, Adjust pole jack as needed
  47. Torque bolt securing LH rear toe link to rear steering actuator

  48. Lower and remove pole jack from LH rear lower control arm
  49. Position and raise pole jack onto RH rear lower control arm
  50. Adjust RH rear suspension to ride height specification

    Measure from wheel housing stud to stabar link mount, Distance should be 31.8 cm, Adjust pole jack as needed
  51. Torque bolt securing RH rear toe link to rear steering actuator

  53. Install LH rear wheel

  55. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    1x cap, 8x clips, Partially secure wheel cap to wheel, While partially installed wheel cover can be rotated to align with tire design, When aligned press inward from center of cap then secure all clips to mounting ring
  59. Install RH rear wheel cap

  60. Connect FRL connector then connect MV battery connector
