Crossbars (Installation)

Install

  1. Open the LH rear roof applique door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool

  2. Remove the nuts (x2) from the vehicle body studs located in the LH rear roof applique door area.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver

  3. Position the bracket in the LH rear roof applique door area, and then install the nuts (x2) that attach the bracket to the vehicle body studs.
    7.8 Nm (5.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Make sure that the bracket is positioned with the "OUT" indicator arrow pointed towards the outside of the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  4. Repeat step 1 through step 3 for the RH rear roof applique.
  5. Open the LH front sail applique door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool

  6. Remove the nuts (x2) from the vehicle body studs located in the LH front sail applique door area.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver

  7. Position the bracket in the LH front sail applique door area, and then install the nuts (x2) that attach the bracket to the vehicle body studs.
    7.8 Nm (5.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Make sure that the bracket is positioned with the "OUT" indicator arrow pointed towards the outside of the vehicle.

  8. Repeat step 5 through step 7 for the RH rear sail applique.
  9. Install the crossbar on the LH and RH rear roof appliques.

    Note
    Make sure that the front indicator arrow (located in the center of the crossbar) is pointed towards the front of the vehicle.

    1. Place the LH side of the crossbar in the LH rear roof applique door area.
    2. Carefully extend the crossbar across the vehicle and place the RH side of the crossbar in the RH rear roof applique door area.
    3. Use the key to open the LH side of the crossbar.

    4. Align the bottom edges of the LH side of the crossbar with the LH rear roof applique.

      Note
      Make sure that the crossbar is flush against the applique mating surface.

    5. Close the LH side of the crossbar and use the key to secure the crossbar to the vehicle.

      An audible click will sound when the crossbar edge is fully secured.

    6. Perform a push-pull test on the LH side of the crossbar. If the crossbar edge is loose, repeat step 9.c through step 9.f until the edge is properly secured.
    7. Perform step 9.c through step 9.f for the RH side of the crossbar.
  10. Perform step 9 to install the crossbar on the LH and RH front sail appliques.
