Windshield - Windshield Assembly (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
- Open the powered frunk.
- Remove the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).

Disconnect the windshield harness
electrical connectors (x3), and then release the harness clips (x4).
NoteWrap the harness around the mirror as needed.
- Remove the wiper arm. See Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Arm (Remove and Install).
- Remove the wiper applique. See Exterior Trim Fittings - Wiper Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Prepare the WRD Spider 3 glass removal kit (1571168-00-A).

Remove the windshield edge seals
(x4).

Secure the start of line to starter
tool, and then push tool through the urethane at the lower LH side of the
windshield.
CAUTIONUse the guard to prevent damage to the dash pad.

Release the line from the starter
tool, and wrap the line around the exterior of the windshield.
NoteVerify the line sits underneath the glass and does not get caught on other components or body panels.

Secure the end of the line to starter
tool and push the tool through the urethane at the lower LH side of the
windshield.
CAUTIONUse guard to prevent damage to the dash pad.

Attach the anchor point (1571168-00-A)
to the interior of the windshield, and then secure the end of the line.
NoteAttach the line to the anchor once fully wrapped around the windshield. Place the anchor near the starting point of the handle tool.

Secure the start of line to the spider
cutting tool (1571168-00-A).
NoteFollow the instructions on the spider tool.CAUTIONFeed the line through the opening of the tool and tie a knot to secure in place. If the spindle is not turned in indicated direction, then the tool will be damaged.

Secure the spider cutting tool
(1571168-00-A) to the interior side of the windshield.
NoteNote the orientation of the cutting line Make sure the line wraps over the large pulley and holds at a 90 degree angle.

Secure the angle driver to the
electric drill.

Use the WRD Spider 3 glass removal kit
(1571168-00-A) to cut the urethane that attaches the windshield to the body.
CAUTIONAvoid damaging the body and the VIN plate.
- Secure suction cups onto the windshield (1080599-00-A).

Remove the windshield from the
vehicle.
NoteRecommend assistance. Have 3 others technicians aid in the removal of the windshield.
- Remove the old urethane from the vehicle (1080601-00-A).
Install
-
Place the new windshield on a support
stand (1054720-00-A).
NoteClean and inspect the windshield.

Release the suction cups from the old
windshield.
Notex2 suction cups on each side.
-
Secure the suction cups onto the new
windshield.
Notex2 suction cups on each side.

Apply urethane primer to the
windshield and vehicle body along the old urethane path.
NoteMake sure to add primer over any areas that were scratched during windshield removal. Allow primer to dry for 2 minutes before applying urethane.

Prepare the caulking gun and
urethane.
NoteOpening must be 8 mm wide and 14 mm tall.

Apply urethane following the primer
path on the windshield.

Align the windshield to the body, and
then apply pressure to all four corners.
NoteRecommend assistance.
- Apply masking tape to temporarily secure the windshield to body while the urethane cures.
- Remove the suction cups from the windshield.
- Close the powered frunk.

Check the gap and flush
measurements.
NoteUse current CVIS specification.NoteRepeat open/close hood and door steps until flushness and gaps are within specification, and then continue to the next step.

Perform wiper motor homing.
- Press the wiper button on the steering wheel.
- Select speed level 3.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Turn the wiper off via the touchscreen.
- Open the powered frunk.
- Install the wiper applique. See Exterior Trim Fittings - Wiper Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Install the wiper arm. See Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Arm (Remove and Install).

Connect the windshield harness
electrical connectors (x3), and fasten the clips (x4).
- Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).

On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate
to Controls > Service Mode >
Software Reinstall, and then tap the
Reinstall button at the "Software Reinstall" dialogue
box.
NoteReinstall will begin immediately. Once software redeploy is complete, verify the release notes are present.
- Confirm successful CAN Redeploy.
- On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration > Camera Input > ForwardFacing, and then tap Run to clear camera calibration.
- On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode Plus > Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration, and then tap Run to clear front bi-camera calibration.
- Exit Service Mode. See Gateway (Unlock).
- Install the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.

Perform a test drive.
NotePerform a validation test drive after repair. Confirm DAS completes calibration successfully. If unsuccessful, perform pitch verification and adjustment. Correction code 17230600. Add correction code 00040100 as needed.
