Remove

  1. Remove the tailgate assembly from the vehicle. See Tailgate Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the spring clip that secures the tailgate damper strut to the LH body side tailgate hinge, and then release the strut from the hinge.
  3. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH body side tailgate hinge to the vehicle, and then remove the hinge from the vehicle.
    75 Nm (55.3 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the LH body side tailgate hinge into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the hinge to the vehicle.
    75 Nm (55.3 lbs-ft)

    Align the bolt heads to the witness marks before tightening.

  2. Position the tailgate damper strut to the LH body side tailgate hinge, and then install the spring clip.

    Note
    Make sure the spring clip is seated to the damper before securing.
