Side and A-Pillar Harnesses - LH Side Assembly (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
  2. Use a pocket screwdriver to manually latch all the doors to prevent lockout.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  5. Remove the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the LH upper A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Partially release the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  9. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).
  14. Fold back the LH front cabin carpet.
  15. Remove the LH carpet support foam.

    Note
    Lift up from the rear edge.
  16. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Remove the mid IP panel. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  19. Remove the lower IP panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  20. Slowly loosen the bolt that secures the locking cover to the MV controller, making sure that the cover separates from the controller squarely, and does not bind.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket

    Note
    Do not remove locking cover. Loosen until the bolt spins freely.

    Make sure the bolts and locking cover are fully released before attempting to release the connectors.

    If the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.

    Use a power tool to loosen the bolt.

  21. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x3) to the MV controller, and then release the harness clips (x3).

    Note
    Each connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards in order for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.
    Tip: Press the connector locking tab by hand, and then use a pocket screwdriver to press the locking tab on the other side of the connector.
  22. Pull back the grommet from the LH front door harness at the A-pillar, and then release the tabs at the top and bottom of the electrical connector to disconnect it.
    Tip: Gently pull the harness away from vehicle while disconnecting.
  23. Press the tab on the A-pillar door harness connector, and then push the connector inward to release it from the body.
  24. Disconnect the electrical connector on the front section of the LH side harness, and then release the clips (x9) that attach the front section of the harness to the vehicle.
  25. Remove the rear header trim. See Headliner Trim - Rear Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  26. Remove the LH cantrail trim. See Headliner Trim - Cantrail Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  27. Release the clips (x7) and datum that attach the LH 2nd row shoulder cover to the body, and then remove the cover from the vehicle.
  28. Remove the LH 2nd row seatback outboard bolster. See 2nd Row Seat Assemblies - 2R Seat Side Bolster LH (Remove and Install).
  29. Remove the LH 2nd row seatback inboard bolster. See 2nd Row Seat Assemblies - 2R Seat Back Inboard Bolster LH (Remove and Install).
  30. Partially remove the LH rear primary door seal.
  31. Remove the LH lower C-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - C-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).

    Note
    Allow the trim to stay attached to the seat belt.
  32. Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - C-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  33. Remove the LH C-pillar ramp bracket. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - C-Pillar Ramp Bracket - LH (Remove and Install).
  34. Remove the charge port ECU. See Charge Port - Assembly Charge Port Controller ECU Gen 4 (Remove and Replace).
  35. Remove the LH 2nd row seat back assembly. See 2nd Row Seat Assemblies - 2nd Row Seat Back Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  36. Remove the rear lower wall trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - End Item, Rear Wall Lower Trim, Soft Trim (Remove and Install).
  37. Remove the LH C-pillar subwoofer. See Audio Speakers - 200mm, Woofer, LH, C-Pillar, Audio (Remove and Install).
  38. Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - B-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  39. Remove the LH upper B-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - B-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  40. Remove the LH B-pillar applique. See Exterior Trim Fittings - B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Install).
  41. Pull back the grommet from the LH front door harness at the B-pillar, and then release the tabs at the top and bottom of the electrical connector to disconnect it.
    Tip: Gently pull the harness away from vehicle while disconnecting.
  42. Press the tab on the B-pillar door harness connector, and then push the connector inward to release it from the body.
  43. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH side harness ground wire to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  44. Disconnect the LH side harness electrical connectors (x4) at the B-pillar, and then release the clips (x15) that attach the harness to the B-pillar.

    Note
    Pull the door connector and B-pillar applique through the opening.
  45. Release the locking tabs and disconnect the electrical connectors (x5) at the rear section of the LH side harness, and then release the clips (x16) that attach the rear section of the harness to the vehicle.
  46. Release the connector lock and disconnect the etherloop link electrical connector, and then release the harness clips (x3).
  47. Maneuver the LH side harness as needed to remove it from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the LH side harness into the vehicle.
  2. Install the harness clips (x3) that attach the etherloop link to the vehicle, and then connect the electrical connector and engage the connector lock.
  3. Secure the clips (x16) that attach the rear section of the LH side harness to the vehicle, and then connect the electrical connectors (x5) and engage the locking tabs.

    CAUTION
    Make sure the harness is routed correctly over the plastic guide near the curtain airbag fastener. Do not pinch the harness under the plastic guide.

  4. Install the clips (x15) that attach the LH side harness to the B-pillar, and then connect the electrical connectors (x4).
  5. Install the bolt that attaches the LH side harness ground wire to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  6. Secure the B-pillar door harness connector to the body.

    Note
    Push the connector body outward to engage the tabs.
  7. Seat the grommet onto the connector housing, and then connect the LH side harness electrical connector at the B-pillar.

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure the connector is fully engaged.
  8. Install the LH B-pillar applique. See Exterior Trim Fittings - B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Install the LH B-pillar applique closeout. See Exterior Trim Fittings - Closeout - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Install the LH upper B-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - B-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  11. Install the LH lower B-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - B-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Install the LH C-pillar subwoofer. See Audio Speakers - 200mm, Woofer, LH, C-Pillar, Audio (Remove and Install).
  13. Install the rear lower wall trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - End Item, Rear Wall Lower Trim, Soft Trim (Remove and Install).
  14. Install the LH 2nd row seat back assembly. See 2nd Row Seat Assemblies - 2nd Row Seat Back Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  15. Install the charge port ECU. See Charge Port - Assembly Charge Port Controller ECU Gen 4 (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the LH C-pillar ramp bracket. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - C-Pillar Ramp Bracket - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Install the LH upper C-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - C-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Install the LH lower C-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - C-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the LH 2nd row seatback inboard bolster. See 2nd Row Seat Assemblies - 2R Seat Back Inboard Bolster LH (Remove and Install).
  20. Install the LH 2nd row seatback outboard bolster. See 2nd Row Seat Assemblies - 2R Seat Side Bolster LH (Remove and Install).
  21. Position the LH 2nd row shoulder cover into the vehicle, and then fasten the clips (x7) and datum that attach the cover to the vehicle.
  22. Install the LH cantrail trim. See Headliner Trim - Cantrail Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  23. Install the LH rear primary door seal.
  24. Install the rear header trim. See Headliner Trim - Rear Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  25. Install the clips (x9) that attach the front section of the LH side harness to the vehicle, and then connect the electrical connector.
  26. Secure the A-pillar door harness connector to the body.

    Push the connector body outward to engage the tabs.
  27. Seat the grommet onto the connector housing, and then connect the LH side harness electrical connector at the A-pillar.

    Make sure connector is fully engaged with a push-pull-push test.
  28. Connect the electrical connectors (x3) to the MV controller, and then secure the harness clips (x3).

    Note
    Each connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards in order for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.
    Tip: Press the connector locking tab by hand, and then use a pocket screwdriver to press the locking tab on the other side of the connector.
  29. Slowly tighten the bolt that secures the locking cover to the MV controller, making sure that the cover is square to the controller, and does not bind.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket

    Note
    If the cover binds, loosen the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then tighten the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.
    Tip: While tightening the bolt, press the connector into the controller to keep it square.

  30. Install the lower IP panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  31. Install the mid IP panel. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  32. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  33. Install the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  34. Install the LH carpet support foam.

  35. Install the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).

  37. Install the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).

  40. Install the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  41. Install the LH upper A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  42. Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  43. Install the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  44. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  45. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  46. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
