1. Open LH front door
   Note

   Push LH B-pillar door trigger to release

   

   

2. Lower LH front window

   

3. Set air suspension ride height to “High”
   Note

   Via UI > Controls > Ride Height > High

   

4. Place air suspension into "Jack Mode"
   Note

   Controls > Service > Jack Mode

   

5. Partially release aft section of LH front fender flare cover
   Note

   11x clips, 3x datum, 1x connector total, Release as needed for clearance, Full removal not required

   

6. Remove clip securing LH front wheel liner to rocker cover
   Note

   1x clip

   

7. Partially release fore section of LH rear fender flare cover
   Note

   13x clips, 3x datums total, Release as needed for clearance, Full removal not required

   

8. Remove clip securing LH rocker cover to rear wheel liner
   Note

   1x clip

   

9. Remove LH rocker trim panel
   Note

   2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 14x clips, Release working at three points along length

   

   

   

   

   

10. Remove LH rocker carrier
    Note

    5x bolts, 10mm, 13Nm, 13 clips, 1x datum, Release working at three points along length

    

    

    

    

11. Remove fasteners securing LH structural rocker to door ring
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 14Nm, Recommend assistance, Support rocker with floor jack during fastener removal, Use two floor jacks if assistance unavailable, Place rag on floor jack to protect paint

    

    

12. Remove fasteners securing LH structural rocker to u-nuts
    Note

    12x bolts, EP10, 13Nm, Avoid moving u-nuts from center during this step

    

    

13. Remove LH structural rocker
    Note

    4x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 28 Nm, Recommend assistance, Lower floor jack to remove LH structural rocker

    

    

14. Partially release aft section of front RH fender flare cover
    Note

    11x clips, 3x datum, 1x connector total, Release as needed for clearance, Full removal not required

    

15. Remove clip securing RH rocker cover to front wheel liner
    Note

    1x clip

    

16. Partially release fore section of rear RH fender flare cover
    Note

    13x clips, 3x datums total, Release as needed for clearance, Full removal not required

    

17. Remove clip securing RH rocker cover to rear wheel liner
    Note

    1x clip

    

18. Remove RH rocker trim panel
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 14x clips, Release working at three points along length

    

    

    

    

    

19. Remove RH rocker carrier
    Note

    5x bolts, 10mm, 13Nm, 13 clips, 1x datum, Release working at three points along length

    

    

    

    

20. Remove fasteners securing RH structural rocker to door ring
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 14Nm, Recommend assistance, Support rocker with floor jack during fastener removal, Use two floor jacks if assistance unavailable, Place rag on floor jack to protect paint

    

    

21. Remove fasteners securing RH structural rocker to u-nuts
    Note

    12x bolts, EP10, 13Nm, Avoid moving u-nuts from center during this step

    

    

22. Remove RH structural rocker
    Note

    4x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 28 Nm, Recommend assistance, Lower floor jack to remove RH structural rocker

    

    

23. Install Universal Lift Pad adapters
    Note

    4x Adapters, Remove original lift pads from lift arms then install respective adapter, Remove plugs from BIW holes, Align pins with lift point holes on body

    

    

    

24. Open powered front trunk
    Note

    Via exterior switch or UI

    

    

25. Power down vehicle via UI
    Note

    Verify EPBs are engaged, Select charge port icon to ensure drive state is disengaged then power down vehicle via Controls > Safety > Power Off

    

26. Remove rear underhood apron
    Note

    9x clips

    

    

27. Disconnect FRL connector then disconnect MV battery connector
    Note

    2x connectors, Release locking tab then disconnect FRL connector, Slide eCPA to left then lift lever to release MV battery connector, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, Release eCPA by pushing down to unlock and slide red locking tab, Wait 2 minutes for electrical circuits to discharge before disconnecting modules

    

    

    

28. Verify operation of multimeter
    Note

    Set multimeter to DC voltage, Confirm multimeter is properly measuring voltage by testing MV battery, Touch lightly and do not damage terminals

    

    

29. Raise vehicle fully
    Note

    Set to a comfortable working height, Lower to locks, Ensure locks engage on both sides to prevent tilting

    

    

30. Remove center ski battery armor fasteners
    Note

    5x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm

    

31. Remove fasteners to Mid-aero shield
    Note

    6x clips, 3x bolts, 15mm, 42 Nm, 5x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 5x bolts are shared with the battery armor

    

    

    

    

    

    

32. Remove Mid-aero shield
    Note

    Rotate down as far as the battery armor will allow to clear the rear lower control arms, Pull Mid-aero shield out from between battery armor and rear venting bracket, Be careful not to engage any of the breathers during removal

    

33. Remove all items from pockets and ensure not wearing metal items

    

34. Inspect HV insulating gloves
    Note

    Check gloves for damage prior to use, Refer to service document TN-15-92-003, for information on inspecting HV gloves. https://service.teslamotors.com/documents?model=&keys=TN-15-92-003&vehicle_system=&sort_by=field_date_submitted&sort_order=DESC

    

35. Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves

    

36. Verify no HV - Install amp clamp to RDU HV harness
    Note

    Verify meter is zeroed out before performing measurement, Measure single cable. Verify ammeter is installed in correct direction. If current > 0.5A do not proceed with disconnecting HV connector. In this case, start vehicle electrical isolation again to make sure that all was properly shut down. Escalate for assistance as requiredIf current < 0.5A, Ok to disconnect and check voltage at HV plug on the battery side.Release locking tab and rotate the release lever up to disengage the connector, Release harness clip, Do not force the release lever up, Ensure the alignment tabs on the RDU header are not damagedMake sure to wear PPE (HV gloves, safety glasses) when working on high voltage component, Measure B+ to Ground, B- to Ground, B+ to B-, If voltage is greater than 10V, Pack contactors are not open or welded, Stop work and reach out to Service Engineering

    

    

    

    

    

    

37. Secure RDU header connector to ancillary
    Note

    1x connector, Verify lever is in the upright and open position, Carefully seat connector and allow lever to engage, Fully secure lever and verify red tab is locked, Do not damage any pins

    

    

38. Remove leather over gloves and HV insulating gloves

    

39. Install Mid-aero shield
    Note

    6x clips, 3x bolts, 15mm, 42 Nm, 5x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, Apply Loctite 222 onto mid aeroshield bolts and install fasteners, Rotate Mid-aero shield between battery armor and rear venting bracket, Be careful not to engage any of the breathers during installation

    

    

    

    

    

    

    

    

40. Install center ski battery armor fasteners
    Note

    4x bolts, 15mm, 26 Nm, Push armor upwards as required, If necessary use underhoist stand to gently raise battery armor

    

    

41. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
    Note

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

    

    

42. Lower vehicle fully
    Note

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

    

    

43. Connect FRL connector then connect MV battery connector
    Note

    2x connectors, Connect FRL connector then secure locking tab, Position lever to secure MV battery connector then slide eCPA to right, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, If power cycling vehicle then ensure at least 60 seconds has passed since powering down

    

    

    

44. Install rear underhood apron
    Note

    9x clips, Adjust windshield seal as required

    

    

45. Close powered front trunk
    Note

    Via exterior switch or UI

    

46. Remove Universal Lift Pad adapters
    Note

    4x Adapters, Install original lift pads, Install plugs back into holes in BIW

    

    

    

47. Position LH structural rocker
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 14 Nm, Recommend assistance, Use two floor jacks if assistance unavailable, Use rag to protect paint, Position rocker onto lower door ring then tighten bolts at front and rear of rocker, Hand tighten only

    

    

48. Install underbody fasteners securing LH structural rocker
    Note

    4x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 28 Nm, Install bolts by hand until flush with rocker, Do not tighten, Position floor jack as required to allow bolts to get good thread engagement, Forward most bolt is longer with a 15mm head, Do not install longer bolt in incorrect position

    

    

49. Install fasteners securing LH structural rocker
    Note

    12x bolts, EP10, 13Nm, Install bolts hand tight only, Torque at a later step, Use floor jack as required to raise or lower structural rocker to achieve alignment with u-nuts, Avoid moving u-nuts from center during this step

    

    

    

50. Torque fasteners securing LH structural rocker
    Note

    12x bolts, EP10, 13Nm, 4x bolts, 13mm, 28Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 28mm 2x bolts, 10mm, 14Nm, Torque underbody fasteners before torquing body side fasteners

    

    

    

    

    

    

51. Install LH rocker carrier
    Note

    5x bolts, 10mm, 13Nm, 13 clips, 1x datum, Position rocker carrier to structural rocker then engage clips along length, Ensure carrier is fully seated then install fasteners securing carrier

    

    

    

    

52. Install LH rocker trim panel
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 14x clips, Ensure trim panel is fully seated along length of rocker

    

    

    

    

    

53. Secure fore section of LH rear fender flare cover
    Note

    13x clips, 3x datums total, Replace any missing or damaged clips

    

54. Install clip securing LH front wheel liner to rocker cover
    Note

    1x clip

    

55. Secure aft section of LH front fender flare cover
    Note

    11x clips, 3x datum, 1x connector total, Replace any missing or damaged clips

    

56. Install clip securing LH rear wheel liner to rocker cover
    Note

    1x clip

    

57. Set RH structural rocker in place with a floor jack to support while installing fasteners
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 14Nm, Recommend assistance, Use two floor jacks if assistance unavailable, Position RH rocker panel to lower door ring then tighten 2x bolts at front and rear of rocker, Hand tighten only, Place rag on floor jack to protect paint

    

    

58. Install underbody fasteners securing RH structural rocker
    Note

    4x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 28 Nm, Install bolts by hand until flush with rocker, Do not tighten, Position floor jack as required to allow bolts to get good thread engagement, Forward most bolt is longer with a 15mm head, Do not install longer bolt in incorrect position

    

    

59. Install fasteners securing RH structural rocker to u-nuts installed in earlier step
    Note

    12x bolts, EP10, 13Nm, Install bolts hand tight only, Torque at a later step, Use floor jack as required to raise or lower structural rocker to achieve alignment with u-nuts, Avoid moving u-nuts from center during this step

    

    

    

60. Torque RH structural rocker to rocker carrier
    Note

    12x bolts, EP10, 13Nm, 4x bolts, 13mm, 28Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 28mm 2x bolts, 10mm, 14Nm, Torque underbody fasteners before torquing body side fasteners

    

    

    

    

    

    

61. Install RH rocker carrier
    Note

    5x bolts, 10mm, 13Nm, 13 clips, 1x datum, Position rocker carrier to structural rocker then engage clips along length, Ensure carrier is fully seated then install fasteners securing carrier

    

    

    

    

62. Install RH rocker trim panel
    Note

    2x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 14x clips, Ensure trim panel is fully seated along length of rocker

    

    

    

    

    

63. Install clip securing RH rocker cover to rear wheel liner
    Note

    1x clip

    

64. Secure fore section of rear RH fender flare cover
    Note

    13x clips, 3x datums total, Ensure no clips are damaged, Replace clips as required

    

65. Install clip securing RH rocker cover to front wheel liner
    Note

    1x clip

    

66. Secure aft section of front RH fender flare cover
    Note

    11x clips, 3x datum, 1x connector total, Ensure no clips are damaged, Replace clips as required

    

67. Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode" and set to "Medium"
    Note

    Via UI > Controls > Service > Jack Mode, Via UI > Controls > Ride Height > Medium

    

    

68. Raise LH front window

    

69. Close LH front door
