Hose, Front Drive Unit Supply Inline (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  5. On the vehicle touchscreen, tap Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant and Refrigerant) and allow the routine to complete.

    Make sure the routine is successful.
  6. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  8. Remove the front aeroshield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the bolts (x2) and push clip that attach the RH front wheel liner to the HV battery chin strap.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  10. Remove the fasteners (x10) that attach the front skid plate to the vehicle, and then remove the skid plate from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 11 mm socket
  11. Place a coolant catcher below the RH front of the vehicle.
  12. Release the clips (x2) that attach the front drive unit supply hose to the vehicle.
  13. Remove the spring clip that secures the front drive unit supply hose to the battery hose bundle, disconnect the hose, and then allow the coolant to drain for approximately 30 seconds before plugging the fittings.
  14. Release the clips (x2) that attach the front drive unit supply hose to the vehicle.
  15. Remove the spring clips (x2) that attach the front drive unit supply hose to the powertrain return hose, disconnect the hoses, and then plug the fittings.

    The NVH cover may need to be compressed for access to spring clip.

Install

  1. Position the front drive unit supply hose to the powertrain return hose, connect the hoses, and then install the spring clips (x2).

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure the hoses are fully engaged.

    The NVH cover may need to be compressed for access to spring clip.
  2. Install the clips (x2) that attach the front drive unit supply hose to the vehicle.
  3. Connect the front drive unit supply hose to the battery hose bundle, and then install the spring clip.

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure the hoses are fully engaged.
  4. Install the clips (x2) that attach the front drive unit supply hose to the vehicle.
  5. Position the front skid plate to the vehicle, and then install the fasteners (x10) that attach the skid plate to the vehicle.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 11 mm socket
  6. Install the bolts (x2) and push clip that attach the RH front wheel liner to the HV battery chin strap.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  7. Install the front aeroshield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  8. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  9. Perform cooling system vacuum refill. See Cooling System (Vacuum Refill).
  10. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  12. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  13. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
