Gearbox Fluid - Rear Drive Unit (Dual Motor) (Top Off)

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Remove the mid aeroshield. See Undertray - Mid Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  5. Position an oil drain container underneath the rear drive unit.
  6. Remove oil fill plug from RDU

    1x plug, 8mm Allen, 15 Nm, Verify the O-ring is not damaged, Replace O-ring as needed
  7. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH side of the acoustic cover to the lower portion of the acoustic cover.
  8. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH side of the acoustic cover to the drive unit assembly.
  9. Set up fill kit with KAF1

    Add extra oil to container as it will prevent underfill and additional air being injected. Only use KAF1 fluid, Do not interchange or mix oil types
  10. Position oil pump hose into fill hole
  11. Pump fluid into rear drive unit

    CAUTION
    If over 500 mL of gearbox fluid was added to the drive unit, additional diagnosis may be needed.

    Note
    Pump fluid into drive unit until fluid spills out. Use excess gearbox fluid in fill container to allow oil pump to dispense fluid without drawing air
  12. Remove oil pump hose from fill port

    Turn knob to off and remove from fill hole
  13. Secure oil fill plug onto RDU

    1x plug, 8mm Allen, 15 Nm, Verify the O-ring is not damaged, Replace O-ring as needed
  14. Spray area with brake cleaner and wipe any residual fluid
  15. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH side of the acoustic cover to the drive unit.

    Note
    Route the cover between subframe and axle.
  16. Remove the oil drain container from underneath the vehicle.
  17. Install the mid aero shield. See Undertray - Mid Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  18. Lower the vehicle fully.
  19. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  20. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  21. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
