Cybertruck electronics are powered by a 48V "mid voltage" or "MV" architecture that is designed to improve efficiency. Servicing MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  5. Navigate to Refrigerant System through UI

  6. Run ODIN routine PROC_VCFRONT_X_START-THERMAL-FILL-DRAIN-COOLANTvia Toolbox:(link)
  7. Open the powered frunk.
  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  9. Disconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  10. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged
  11. Remove the front skid plate. See Skid Plate (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the frontaero shield. See Aeroshield - Front (Remove and Install).
  13. Disconnect CFM connectors

  14. Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle
  15. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  16. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  17. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  18. Remove lower CFM fasteners

  19. Remove fore crossmember

  20. Disconnect radiator to manifold hose from radiator and plug connections

  22. Release harness from CFM

    1x grommet, 2x connectors, 5x harness clips, Pull red locking tab to disengage louver connector, Release temperature sensor then disconnect, Release grommet and pull harness through from frunk area
  23. Remove upper CFM fasteners

  24. Remove CFM

  25. Disconnect coolant hoses from FDU heat exchanger

  26. Remove FDU heat exchanger

    2x bolts, EP10, 5 Nm, Ensure O-rings do not remain on drive unit, Empty oil and coolant from exchanger into approved containers
  27. Install FDU heat exchanger

  28. Connect coolant hoses to FDU heat exchanger

  29. Install CFM

  30. Connect CFM connectors

  46. Access thermal system routines using the UI

  48. Select "Start Coolant Air Purge" using the UI

    Touch time only, wait until coolant pumps stop running (audible noise), Routine Passed will appear, but pumps will run for 10 minutes, If you start next another routine during this time it will fail, Make sure vehicle is not in "Drive", Routine is still running despite the completed message, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valves between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into "Drive" will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked, perform a vacuum fill, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle
  49. Select “TEST-SELF_DIF_X_OIL-PUMP-PRESSURE”, Click ‘Run’, and allow routine to pass
  50. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

  54. Inspect plug O-rings

  55. Position oil pump hose into FDU fill hole
  56. Pump fluid into FDU

  57. Remove oil pump hose from FDU fill hole

    Turn valve to off and remove from fill hole
  58. Install oil fill plug onto FDU

  59. Spray area with brake cleaner and wipe any residual fluid
  60. Secure RH side acoustic cover onto FDU

  61. Secure RH side acoustic cover onto lower portion of acoustic cover

  62. Install the front aero shield. See Aeroshield - Front (Remove and Install).
  63. Install the skid plate. See Skid Plate (Remove and Install).
  64. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

  65. Select “TEST-SELF_DIF_X_OIL-PUMP-PRESSURE”, Click ‘Run’, and allow routine to pass
  66. Perform Thermal Performance through the UI
