Windshield Wipers and Motor - Assembly, Wiper Motor (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  5. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the wiper arm and blade assembly. See Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Arm and Blade Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the wiper applique. See Exterior Trim Fittings - Wiper Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Release the washer fluid hose from the clips (x2), and then disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector.
    Tip: Pinch the hose connector to release it.
  9. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the wiper motor assembly to the vehicle, and then slide the wiper motor assembly forward to remove it from the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the wiper motor assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the motor to the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Slide the motor assembly rearward into position.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Connect the wiper motor electrical connector, and then secure the washer fluid hose to the clips (x2).

    Perform a push-pull-push test on the connector to verify it is fully connected.
  3. Install the wiper applique. See Exterior Trim Fittings - Wiper Applique Assembly (Remove and Install)
  4. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  5. Install the wiper arm and blade assembly. See Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Arm and Blade Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  9. If the wiper motor is being replaced, reinstall the vehicle software, but do not exit Service Mode. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.

    CAUTION
    Failure to perform the software reinstall may result in a software mismatch, which could cause unintentional functionality.
  10. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode > Closures > Windows > Wiper Test, tap Run, and allow the routine to complete.

  11. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  12. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
