Front Drive Inverter - Cover, Phase Out (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  6. Perform Vehicle HV Disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  7. Remove the bolts (x8) and clips (x6) that attach the mid aeroshield to the vehicle, and then remove the aeroshield from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 13 mm socket
    • 10 mm socket
  8. Remove the front aeroshield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove and discard the label from the phase out cover.
  10. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the phase out cover to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx Plus EP10
  11. Use a plastic trim tool to remove the phase out cover from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Inspect the O-rings on the new phase out cover. If the phase out cover O-rings are damaged, then replace with a new unit.
  2. Install the phase out cover into the vehicle.
  3. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the phase out cover to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft) +20 deg
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx Plus EP10
  4. Install a new label onto the phase out cover.
  5. Install the front aeroshield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  6. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  7. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  10. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
