Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Suspension > Very High to set the vehicle ride height to Very High.
  4. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Jack Mode to enable Jack Mode.
  5. Partially release the clips (x11) that attach the rear of the LH front fender flare cover to the vehicle, and then disconnect the electrical connector.

    It is not necessary to fully remove the LH front fender flare cover.

  6. Release the clip that attaches the LH rocker cover to the LH front wheel liner.

  7. Partially release the clips (x13) that attach the front of the LH rear fender flare cover to the vehicle.

  8. Remove the clip that attaches the LH rocker cover to the LH rear wheel liner.

  9. Remove the bolts (x2) and release clips (x13) that attach the LH off road rocker trim to the LH off road rocker carrier, and then remove the rocker trim from the vehicle.

  10. Remove the bolts (x5) and release the clips (x13) that attach the LH off road rocker carrier to the LH off road structural rocker, and then remove the rocker carrier from the vehicle.

  11. With assistance, remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the LH front and rear door rings, and then remove the structural rocker from the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    If assistance is unavailable, place a shop rag between the floor jack and structural rocker to protect the structural rocker paint, and then use a floor jack to support the structural rocker.

  12. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the front rocker support bracket.

  13. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the rear rocker support bracket.

  14. Remove the bolts (x5) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the vehicle under body.

  15. Repeat step 5 through step 14 for the RH off road armor parts as required, and then continue to the next step.
  16. Fully raise the vehicle using the rocker lift points. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  17. Position the HV battery table under the HV battery off road armor assembly.

  18. Lower the vehicle until the HV battery table is nearly touching the HV battery off road armor assembly. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  19. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the HV battery off road armor assembly to the HV battery ski rail.

  20. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the front side of the HV battery off road armor assembly to the HV battery.

  21. Remove the bolts (x5) that attach the rear side of the HV battery off road armor assembly to the HV battery.

  22. Slowly raise the vehicle and place the HV battery off road armor assembly on the HV battery table. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.

  23. Remove the HV battery off road armor assembly and the HV battery table from the workspace.

Install

  1. Inspect the LH and RH front and rear rocker support bracket U-nuts (x24) for signs of wear or looseness.

    Note
    Worn U-nuts may fall into the rocker structures when being reused. Replace any worn or loose U-nuts as required.
  2. Position the HV battery off road armor assembly and the HV battery table under the vehicle.
  3. Align the HV battery off road armor assembly and HV battery fastener holes (x23), and then raise the HV battery table until the armor assembly is flush against the HV battery.
  4. Prepare the HV battery off road armor assembly fasteners for installation.
  5. Hand-tighten the bolts (x4) that attach the HV battery off road armor assembly to the HV battery ski rail.

  6. Hand-tighten the bolts (x4) that attach the front side of the HV battery off road armor assembly to the HV battery.

  7. Hand-tighten the bolts (x5) that attach the rear side of the HV battery off road armor assembly to the HV battery.

  8. Raise the vehicle and remove the HV battery table from the workspace. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  9. Lower the vehicle until the tires touch the ground. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  10. With assistance, position the LH off road structural rocker on the vehicle, and then hand-tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the structural rocker to the LH front and rear door rings.

    If assistance is unavailable, place a shop rag between the floor jack and structural rocker to protect the structural rocker paint, and then use a floor jack to position the structural rocker on the vehicle.

  11. Hand-tighten the bolts (x5) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the vehicle under body.

  12. Hand-tighten the bolts (x6) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the front rocker support bracket.

    Install the first bolt on the second fastener hole closest to the front of the vehicle, and then install the remaining bolts while maintaining one exposed fastener hole between every bolt.

  13. Hand-tighten the bolts (x6) that attach the LH off road structural rocker to the rear rocker support bracket.

  18. Position the LH off road rocker carrier on the vehicle, engage the clips (x13), and then install the bolts (x5) that attach the LH off road rocker carrier to the LH off road structural rocker.
    13 Nm (9.6 lbs-ft)

  19. Position the LH off road rocker trim on the vehicle, engage the clips (x14), and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH off road rocker trim to the LH off road rocker carrier.

  20. Secure the clips (x13) that attach the front of the LH rear fender flare cover to the vehicle.

  22. Connect the electrical connector, and then secure the clips (x11) that attach the rear of the LH fender flare cover to the vehicle.

  32. Raise the LH front window.
  33. Close the LH front door.
