Windshield and Backlite - Fixed Glass Backlite (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
  2. Open the tailgate.
  3. Open the tonneau cover.
  4. Remove the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  5. Remove the rear header trim. See Headliner Trim - Rear Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the LH and RH mid A-pillar trims. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the LH and RH cantrail trims. See Headliner Trim - Cantrail Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Release the clip to partially release the LH lower C-pillar trim. Repeat this step on the RH lower C-pillar trim.
  10. Release the clips (x3) and tabs (x3) that attach the LH C-pillar upper trim to the C-pillar, and then remove the trim from the vehicle. Repeat this step for the RH C-pillar upper trim.
  11. Remove the LH and RH 2nd row seat shoulder covers. See 2nd Row Seat Back Hardware - 2nd Row Seat Shoulder Cover - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Cut and collect each anchor point off and release the backlight datums (x6).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • MEH234 Blade Handle
  13. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the tonneau applique to the body, and then firmly pull upward from the rear edge of applique to release the rear of applique. Press the locking tab on the forward mounting points to release the roof applique.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  14. Release the clips (x2) and the adhesive strip, and then remove LH backlight applique assembly. Repeat this step for the RH side.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • MEH234 Blade Handle

    Note
    Cut the adhesive, and then pry inward to release the applique.
  15. Install 1 or more suction cups to the backlite glass.

    This will stop the backlite glass from dropping into the tonneau gap.
  16. Remove the backlite glass.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Equalizer Express 360 (220V)
    • Glasses, anti-scratch lens
    • Cut resistance gloves

    Note
    Cut the urethane that secures the backlite glass to the body with Equalizer Express 360 (220V). Lift the glass upwards to remove it once free.

    Note
    Dispose of the backlite glass in correct receptacle. If reusing the glass, place it on a padded surface, such as 500 lb. portable bench.

Install

  1. Prepare the body urethane path. Cut the remaining urethane flush with the body using a scraper. Clean the urethane path with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) wipes and allow the IPA to dry for one minute.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • WK6SET BTB winged scraper set.
    • Glasses, anti-scratch lens
    • Cut resistance gloves
  2. Mask the false wall and the tonneau slats with painter's tape. Apply the tape such that the gap between false wall and body is bridged.

    Note
    Apply tape layers as required to mask from any primer drips.
  3. Apply primer to the vehicle body on the entire urethane path.

    Apply primer to any exposed metal.

    Allow primer to dry for two minutes before installing the roof assembly.

    Wipe away any primer drips with IPA wipes.
  4. Prepare the backlight glass assembly. Put the backlite glass on a padded surface. Clean the urethane path with IPA wipes and allow IPA to dry for 1 minute before applying urethane.
  5. Apply urethane to the backlite glass. Follow the primer path. Blend any gaps with IPA wipes.
  6. Install the backlite glass onto the body. Align the bottom datums, and then pivot the glass inwards to engage the upper datums. Push inwards around the perimeter of the glass. Datums (x6) will create an audible click when engaged. Visually confirm that datums are engaged from the interior.
  7. Fasten the clips (x2), and then instal the LH backlight applique assembly. Repeat this step for the RH backlight applique assembly.

    Replace any missing or damaged clips.
  8. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the tonneau applique to the body. Position over the mounting points, then apply downward pressure to engage the front and rear attachment points, and then install the bolts (x2).
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket

    Note
    Make sure the seal is not caught outboard of the applique.

    Use a trim tool to adjust the seal position, as required.
  9. Install the RH 2nd row seat shoulder cover. See 2nd Row Seat Back Hardware - 2nd Row Seat Shoulder Cover - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Fasten the clips (x3) and tabs (x3) that attach the RH C-pillar upper trim to the C-pillar.
  11. Fasten the RH lower C-pillar trim clip.

  12. Install the LH and RH cantrail trims. See Headliner Trim - Cantrail Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  13. Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  14. Install the LH and RH mid A-pillar trims. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  15. Install the LH 2nd row seat shoulder cover. See 2nd Row Seat Back Hardware - 2nd Row Seat Shoulder Cover - LH (Remove and Install).
  16. Fasten the clips (x3) and tabs (x3) that attach the LH C-pillar upper trim to the C-pillar.
  17. Fasten the LH lower C-pillar trim clip.
  18. Install the rear header trim. See Headliner Trim - Rear Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  20. Close the tonneau cover.
  21. Close the tailgate.
  22. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
