- 2024-05-29: Updated locking cover torque value from 4 Nm to 6 Nm.
- 2024-05-29: Added missing steps to remove/install RH center floor rail.
- 2024-05-14: Added disconnect/connect videos for MV controller.
Remove
- Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
- Move the RH front seat fully rearward.
- Remove the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
- Remove the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
- Fold back the RH carpet.
- Release the clip that attaches the RH IP floor duct to the vehicle, and then remove the floor duct from the vehicle.
- Open the powered frunk.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
-
Slowly loosen the bolts (x2) that
secures the locking cover to the RH controller, making sure that the cover separates
from the controller squarely, and does not bind.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove locking cover. Loosen until the bolt spins freely.NoteMake sure the bolts and locking cover are fully released before attempting to release the connectors.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse a power tool to loosen the bolt.Figure 1. Rear MV controller shown; other MV controllers similar -
Disconnect the controller electrical
connectors (x7).
NoteDo not remove the locking cover.NoteEach connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.Tip: Use a pocket screwdriver to press one of the connector tabs while pressing the other tab by hand.
- Release the red locking tab, and then disconnect the SFA electrical connector from the controller.
- Release the controller harness clips (x7).
-
Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the
controller onto the bulkhead.14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Tilt the controller away from the
bulkhead, release the connector locks and disconnect the electrical connectors (x2), and
then remove the controller from the bulkhead.
CAUTIONDisconnecting the electrical connectors will be done blindly. Be careful not to pull too aggressively to prevent damaging the wet side harness connectors.
Install
-
Position the controller onto the
bulkhead, and then connect the electrical connectors and secure the connector
locks.
NoteTilt the controller toward the bulkhead, and then connect the wet side electrical connectors.NotePerform a push-pull-push test to ensure the electrical connector seal is seated.
-
Install the nuts (x4) that attach the
controller to the bulkhead.14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Secure the harness clips (x7) onto the controller.
- Connect the SFA electrical connector onto the controller, and then secure the red locking tab.
-
Connect the controller electrical
connectors (x7).
NoteLocking cover should be in a released position.NoteCarefully insert the connector through the locking cover, and then gently wiggle the connector head to ensure it is correctly inserted.NoteMake sure the pins on the connector are aligned before fastening the locking cover bolts.NoteThe connector should be slightly loose, but the tab engagement will prevent it from being disconnected.
-
Slowly tighten the bolts (x2) that
secure the locking covers to the RH controller, making sure that the covers are square
to the controller, and do not bind.6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteIf the cover binds, loosen the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then tighten the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.Tip: While tightening the bolt, press the connector into the controller to keep it square.Figure 2. Rear MV controller shown; other MV controllers similar - Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Close the powered frunk.
- Position the RH IP floor duct into the vehicle, and then install the clip.
- Unfold the RH front cabin carpet into position.
- Install the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
- Restore the RH front seat back to its original position.
- Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
