Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  6. Remove the LH rear wheel cap. See Wheel Cover - Front - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Loosen the LH rear halfshaft bolt.
    200 Nm (147.5 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  8. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the EPB harness electrical connector from the LH rear brake caliper.
  10. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rear wheel speed sensor to the knuckle, and then release the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the knuckle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  11. Connect a EPB release tool to the LH rear parking brake, and then release the LH rear parking brake.
  12. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear brake caliper to the vehicle, and then use an S-hook to hang the caliper on the body.
    150 Nm (110.6 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Route the caliper hose so that it does not get caught on stabilizer bar assembly.

  13. Remove the LH rear brake rotor.

    Note
    After the caliper is released, the rotor is also loose.
  14. Remove the LH rear halfshaft bolt.
    200 Nm (147.5 lbs-ft)

  15. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH rear hub and brake shield assembly to the vehicle, remove the assembly from the vehicle, and then remove the brake shield from the hub.
    105 Nm (77.4 lbs-ft)

Install

  1. Position the LH rear brake shield onto the hub, position the assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the assembly to the vehicle.
    105 Nm (77.4 lbs-ft)

    The shield will be loose until the hub is installed.

    Make sure the shield is correctly oriented.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 18 mm socket
  2. Engage the LH rear halfshaft to the LH rear hub assembly, and then install and hand-tighten the halfshaft bolt until the bolt flange is seated on the hub.

    Note
    After positioning the halfshaft against the hub, rotate the hub until the splines click. If splines are properly engaged, the hub will rotate halfshaft.

    Note
    With the halfshaft properly engaged with the hub assembly, tighten the bolt so that the bolt flange is seated on the hub. This will prevent accidental spline disengagement until the bolt is torqued.

  3. Position the LH rear brake rotor onto the vehicle.
  4. Position the LH rear brake caliper to the knuckle, and install the bolts (x2) that attach the caliper to the knuckle.
    150 Nm (110.6 lbs-ft)

    • 21 mm socket
  5. Position the LH rear wheel speed sensor to the knuckle, install the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the knuckle, and then install the bolt that attaches the sensor to the knuckle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T30 socket
  6. Connect the EPB harness connector to the LH rear brake caliper, and then engage the connector lock.
  7. Install the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Tighten the LH and RH rear halfshaft bolts.
    200 Nm (147.5 lbs-ft)

  9. Install the LH rear wheel cap. See Wheel Cover - Front - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  11. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  12. Exit Service mode. See Service Mode.
  13. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  14. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
