Procedure

Note
For all inspection tasks, document any abnormalities.
  1. Open the LH front door from the outside and verify that the door operates with a full range of motion. Look for any interference between the door and the brightwork or body.
  2. Lower and raise all windows from the driver's seat switch with the door closed.
  3. Make sure the doors and windows are closed, then operate the windshield wipers and spray jets. Check for:
    • Full range of motion
    • Speed of motion
    • Interference with other components
    • Noises such as creaks, groans, and clicks
    • Pauses and incomplete actions
  4. Operate the turn signals, steering wheel scroll wheels, and horn.
  5. Inspect the front external lights for cosmetic damage and humidity ingress.
  6. Inspect the rear external lights for cosmetic damage and humidity ingress.

    Note
    It is acceptable for taillights to have some condensation.
  7. Turn on all interior lighting, including dome lights, sun visor mirror lights, and ambient lights, then turn all interior lighting off.
  8. Check all radio and connectivity functions, including
    • AM/FM/HD/DAB radio
    • Internet
    • Wi-Fi
    • GPS/Navigation
  9. Open the LH rear door from the outside and verify that the door operates with a full range of motion. Look for any interference between the door and the brightwork or body.

  11. Open the RH front door from the outside and verify that the door operates with a full range of motion. Look for any interference between the door and the brightwork or body.

  12. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  13. Check tire pressures and adjust to specification as necessary.
  14. Measure and record the LH rear brake pad thickness.

    Recommend replacement if 2 mm or less. Check both inboard and outboard pads.
  15. Inspect LH rear brake rotor condition. Check for excessive rust or wear.

    Recommend replacement if the rotor is below 26 mm.
  16. Record the outer, center, and inner tread depths for the LH rear tire.

    Do not place the tire tread gauge probe on the molded treadwear indicators. Recommend replacement if tread depth is 4/32 in (3 mm) or less.
  17. Repeat the tire, rotor, and brake pad measurements for the other 3 wheels.
  18. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged
  19. Inspect the HV battery enclosure for any dents, scrapes, or other damage.
  20. Remove the skid plate stamping. See Skid Plate Stamping (Remove and Replace)
  21. Remove the rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - Rear (Remove and Install).
  22. Remove the rear aero shield. See Aeroshield - Rear (Remove and Install).
  23. Inspect the rear suspension components, including the ball joints and bushings. Inspect for loose fasteners.

    Carefully apply pressure with a pry bar as needed.
  24. Inspect the steering components, including gear joints and electrical connections, for bending or damage.
  25. Inspect the underside of the vehicle for any coolant leaks.

    Pay special attention to hose connection points.
  26. Inspect the entire underside of the vehicle. Inspect for:
    • Damage
    • Wear
    • Heavy rust
    • Wiring damage
    • Evidence of impact

  27. Install the rear aero shield. See Aeroshield - Rear (Remove and Install).
  28. Install the rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - Rear (Remove and Install).
  29. Install the skid plate stamping. See Skid Plate Stamping (Remove and Replace)
  30. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift
  31. Open the powered front trunk.
  32. Fill the washer reservoir with fluid.
  33. Remove the rear underhood apron.

  34. Visually inspect brake fluid level.
  35. Inspect the coolant level and top off if the fluid level is below the Max line.
  36. Install the rear underhood apron and secure the clips (x9). Adjust the windshield seal as needed.
  37. Close the powered front trunk.
  38. Run ODIN routine PROC_ICE_X_EXIT-SERVICE-MODEvia Toolbox:(link)
  39. Perform a road test.
    1. Perform a series of ABS-active stops and ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance.

      Note
      The vehicle must stop completely within 25 feet (7.6 meters) at 20 mph (32 kph), Confirm that no excessive vibration or noise is present.
    2. Check the vehicle alignment.

      Confirm steering wheel is straight and no vibrations or noises are felt or heard from the suspension. On a flat road, at 35 mph (56 kph), the vehicle should not pull in either direction.
