If using this procedure to diagnosis the vehicle's Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), disarm the RCM, which will prevent all airbags and pretensioners from deploying. Re-arm the RCM after all of the vehicle's SRS components are re-installed.

Remove

  1. Open LH doors and lower the LH windows.
  2. Remove the front header trim. See Trim - Header - Front (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH IP quarter panel. See Quarter Panel Assembly - LH - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH A-pillar upper trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the LH A-pillar forward trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Forward - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Move the LH front seat fully forward.
  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  9. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  10. Remove the rear header trim. See Trim - Header - Rear (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the LH cantrail trim. See Trim - Cantrail - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the LH sunvisor assembly. See Sun Visor - LH (Remove and Install).
  13. Disconnect the LH curtain airbag electrical connector, remove the bolts (x7) that attach the airbag to the vehicle, and then release the clips (x8) and hooks (x4) to remove the airbag from the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the connector.

    Push the airbag accelerometer assembly sideways to clear the hook, and the assembly will detach from the body panel.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the LH curtain airbag into the vehicle, secure the clips (x8) and hooks (x4), install the bolts (x7), and then connect the electrical connector and secure the connector lock.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    Secure the hooks and clips into position first, and then secure all the bolts.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  2. Install the LH sunvisor assembly. See Sun Visor - LH (Remove and Install).
  3. Install the LH cantrail trim. See Trim - Cantrail - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Install the rear header trim. See Trim - Header - Rear (Remove and Install).
  5. Install the LH A-pillar forward trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Forward - LH (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the LH A-pillar upper trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Install the LH IP quarter panel. See Quarter Panel Assembly - LH - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Install the front header trim. See Trim - Header - Front (Remove and Install).
  10. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  11. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  12. Restore the LH front seat back to its original position.
  13. Raise the LH windows and close the LH doors.
