Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  3. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  4. Recover the AC refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  5. Remove the desiccant filter snap ring.

    Note
Install the desiccant filter slide hammer, and then tap the filter inwards to allow enough clearance to remove the snap ring.
  6. Remove the desiccant filter from the Supermanifold.
  7. If the desiccant filter is being replaced, weigh the desiccant filter, and record the oil weight. Skip this step if the filter is being reused.
    1. Zero out the scale and set measuring units to G.
    2. Weigh the desiccant filter and record the measured weight.
    3. Locate the dry weight marked on desiccant filter.
    4. Subtract the marked dry weight from the measured weight, and then record the difference to be used in oil balancing at a later step.
      • Example: Measured weight (185g) - dry weight (169.272g) = 15.728g difference. Add an additional 15.7g of oil to system when returning recovered oil during charging.

Install

  1. Lubricate the O-rings on the desiccant filter with fresh refrigerant oil before installation.
  2. Install the desiccant filter into the Supermanifold with the tap pointing upwards, and then gently tap the filter into place with a slide hammer.
  3. Install the desiccant filter snap ring.

  4. Reconnect AC hoses to the vehicle.
  5. Perform AC vacuum and run leak test. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  6. Remove the low side AC hose from the Supermanifold to HVAC AC line assembly.
  7. If the desiccant filter was replaced, use an oil injector to add measured amount of oil back into the system.

    Note
Use calculated oil loss measurement and add new RB100EV oil into the system. If more than 30 mL was drained out during recovery, refer to drained oil loss chart: Toolbox article 353700.
  8. Install the low side AC hose to the Supermanifold to HVAC AC line assembly.
  9. Recharge the AC refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  10. Use the vehicle touchscreen to perform Thermal Performance test. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  11. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  12. Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  13. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
