Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH rear halfshaft bolt.
    200 Nm (147.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  5. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rear brake line to the upper control arm, and then release the brake line from the control arm.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  6. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the EPB harness connector from the LH rear brake caliper.
  7. Remove the bolt and release the clips (x2) that attach the LH rear wheel speed sensor to the knuckle, and then remove the sensor from the knuckle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  8. Use an EPB release tool to release the LH rear parking brake.
  9. Connect the EPB harness connector to the LH rear brake caliper, and then engage the connector lock.
  10. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear brake caliper to the knuckle, and then use an S-hook hang the caliper aside.
    150 Nm (110.6 lbs-ft)

    Route the caliper hose so that it does not get caught on stabilizer bar assembly.

    Hang the caliper from the body.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  11. Remove the LH rear brake rotor.
  12. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH rear hub and brake shield to the vehicle, and then remove the hub and shield from the vehicle.
    105 Nm (77.4 lbs-ft)

    The shield will be loose until the hub is installed.

  13. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the upper control arm to the knuckle.
    150 Nm (110.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  14. Remove the nut that attaches the tie rod end to the knuckle, and then release the tie rod from the knuckle.
    210 Nm (154.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  15. Remove the nut that attaches the knuckle to the lower control arm, and then remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
    190 Nm (140.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Turn the entire knuckle assembly to allow more clearance if needed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the LH rear knuckle to the lower control arm, and then install the nut that attaches the knuckle to the vehicle.
    190 Nm (140.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Turn the entire knuckle assembly to allow more clearance if needed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  2. Position the tie rod end to the knuckle, and then install the nut that attaches the tie rod to the knuckle.
    210 Nm (154.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  3. Install a new nut that attaches the upper control arm to the knuckle.
    150 Nm (110.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  4. Position the LH rear hub and brake shield to the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x4) that attach the hub and shield to the vehicle.
    105 Nm (77.4 lbs-ft)

  5. Position the LH rear halfshaft onto the LH rear hub assembly, and then install and hand-tighten the bolt.

    Engage the halfshaft against the hub.

    Note
    Then rotate the hub until the splines click, engage the splines, and then tighten bolt. If the splines are properly engaged, the hub will rotate the halfshaft.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  6. Position the LH rear brake rotor onto hub.
  7. Position the LH rear brake caliper to the knuckle, and install the bolts (x2) that attach the caliper to the knuckle.
    150 Nm (110.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  8. Position the LH rear brake line to the upper control arm, and then install the bolt that attaches the brake line to the control arm.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  9. Position the LH rear wheel speed sensor to the knuckle, and then install the bolt and clips (x2) that attach the sensor to the knuckle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  10. Connect the rear left chassis corner harness to the brake caliper, and then engage the connector lock.
  11. Install the LH rear wheel, but do not install the wheel cap. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  13. Torque the LH rear halfshaft bolt.
    200 Nm (147.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  14. Install the LH rear wheel cap.
  15. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
