-
If present, remove and discard the nut
that secures the cantrail stud.
NoteSome vehicles may not have this nut installed.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm combination wrench
-
With assistance, release the clips

If not present, apply a butyl patch
(PN: 1032246-00-B) onto the LH roof rail body at the highlighted locations where holes
are present. Refer to images for locations and butyl application alignment.
CAUTIONDo not apply the patch(es) below the lower edge of the roof rail. Applying a butyl patch below the lower edge of the roof rail will interfere with the primary seal seating. See image for reference.NoteApply a butyl patch to locations 4-6 (in image) only if hole is present.NoteUse a roller to wet out the patch after install.NoteButyl patch and hole location will vary depending on vehicle build date.

Replace all remaining clips (x7, PN:
1756057-00-B) on the cantrail assembly.
-
Use a taper step gauge to measure the
hole in the fender where the front of the cantrail is attached. The mounting hole should
be 8mm in diameter and exposed surfaces should have E-coat applied.
- If the mounting hole is 8mm in diameter and has E-coat applied, continue to the next step in this procedure to install the cantrail trim.
- If the mounting hole is 8mm in diameter and does not have E-coat applied, apply E-coat to exposed surfaces. See Trim - Cantrail - Roof Rail - LH (Rework).
- If the mounting hole is less than 8mm in diameter, enlarge the fender mounting hole and apply E-coat to exposed surfaces. See Trim - Cantrail - Roof Rail - LH (Rework).
- If the hole is larger than 8mm in diameter, discontinue inspection and replace the fender assembly. See Fender Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
