Remove

  1. Open the LH doors and lower the LH windows.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Install).
  5. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the front of the LH cantrail assembly to the vehicle.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

    • 8 mm socket
  6. Remove the LH B-pillar applique closeout. See Closeout - Applique - B-Pillar - LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the LH header seal. See Seal - Header - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the LH sail baffle applique. See Applique - Sail Baffle - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the LH C-pillar applique closeout. See Closeout - Applique - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the LH C-pillar applique. See Applique - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the screws (x8) that attach the LH cantrail to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

  12. If present, remove and discard the nut that secures the cantrail stud.

    • 8 mm combination wrench
  13. With assistance, release the clips that attach the LH cantrail to the vehicle, and then remove the cantrail from the vehicle.

    The number of clips may vary (x7-x8) depending on vehicle build date.

    Place the cantrail on a padded surface.
  14. If present, remove the rearmost clip from the LH cantrail assembly.

Install

  1. If not present, apply a butyl patch (PN: 1032246-00-B) onto the LH roof rail body at the highlighted locations where holes are present. Refer to images for locations and butyl application alignment.

    CAUTION
    Do not apply the patch(es) below the lower edge of the roof rail. Applying a butyl patch below the lower edge of the roof rail will interfere with the primary seal seating. See image for reference.

  2. Replace all remaining clips (x7, PN: 1756057-00-B) on the cantrail assembly.
  3. Use a taper step gauge to measure the hole in the fender where the front of the cantrail is attached. The mounting hole should be 8mm in diameter and exposed surfaces should have E-coat applied.

    Apply additional correction codes for fender replacement and/or rework, as necessary.
  4. With assistance, position the LH cantrail onto the vehicle, and then partially engage the clips (x7) that attach the cantrail to the vehicle.

    The pins may need to be released at a later step for adjustment.
  5. Partially install new nuts (x2) and washer that secure the LH front and rear cantrail studs.

    CAUTION
    Install a new nut (2081194-99-A) at the rear of the cantrail even if the vehicle did not previously have a nut installed.

    Install a washer (1532506-00-A) with a new nut on the front of the cantrail at the fender mounting location.

    Do not torque the fasteners at this time.

    Twist the rear section of the cantrail outwards to allow access to the stud.
  6. Adjust the front of LH cantrail assembly, and then tighten the fastener that secures the front of the cantrail to the vehicle until the panel is flush.

    Hand tight only. Do not overtighten.

    Use a block and hammer to shift cantrail forward or rearward as needed. Engage nearby pin as needed.
  7. Adjust the rear of LH cantrail assembly as needed, and then tighten the nut that attaches the rear of the cantrail to the vehicle until the panel is flush.

    Use a block and hammer to shift cantrail forward or rearward as needed. Engage nearby pin as needed.

  8. Engage the pins (x8) that attach the LH cantrail to the vehicle.
  9. Tighten the nuts (x2) that secure the LH front and rear cantrail stud.

    CAUTION
    Hand tight only. Do not overtighten nut. Stud could spin if overtightened.
  10. Install the screws (x8) that attach the LH cantrail to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

  11. Install the LH C-Pillar applique, C-Pillar applique closeout, and sail baffle applique. See Applique - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Install the LH header seal. See Seal - Header - LH (Remove and Install).
  13. Install a new nut (PN: 2081194-99-A) that attaches the front of the LH cantrail assembly to the vehicle.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  14. Install the LH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Install).
  15. Adjust windshield to cantrail seal.
    1. Use a plastic trim tool to lift the seal out of the groove between windshield and cantrail.

      Note
      Make sure the seal is sitting on top of cantrail along entire length from fender to roof.
    2. Tuck the seal down along entire length from fender to roof making sure no high points are present.
  16. Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  17. Raise the LH windows and close the LH doors.
