Closeout Panel - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace)

Servicing MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.

Remove

  1. Open LH doors and lower all the windows.
  2. Remove the LH rear door panel beltline assembly. See Beltline Assembly - Door Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the LH rear door inner waist belt seal. See Waist Belt Seal - Inner - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH rear door outer waist belt seal. See Waist Belt Seal - Outer - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Install).
  5. Raise the LH rear window.
  6. Use a pocket screwdriver to manually latch the LH front door.
  7. Remove the LH rear door moving glass. See Moving Glass - Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  9. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power (Modify).
  10. Release the locking tabs and disconnect the LH rear door harness connectors (x4), and then release the clips (x5) that attach the harness to the LH rear door closeout panel.
  11. Disconnect the impact sensor electrical connector, and then turn impact sensor counterclockwise to release it from the door.
  12. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rear door controller to the door, and then remove the controller from the vehicle.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T25 bit
  13. Remove the bolts (x13) and release the datums (x2) that attach the LH rear door closeout panel to the door assembly, and then remove the closeout panel from the door assembly.

    Note
    Gently pry the panel to release the datums (x2).

    Note
    Pull the bottom portion of the panel away from the door assembly, and then lower the assembly to allow clearance for the regulator rails.

    • 10 mm socket
  14. Remove the bolts (x4) and release the datums (x4) that attach the LH rear window regulator to the closeout panel.

Install

  1. Position the LH rear window regulator to the closeout panel, and then install the bolts (x4) and secure the datums (x4) that attach window regulator to the closeout panel.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  2. Position the LH rear door closeout panel to the door assembly, and then install the bolts (x13) and datums (x2) that attach the closeout panel to the door assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Torque the 8mm bolts (x11) to 4 Nm, and the 10 mm bolts (x2) to 12 Nm.

  3. Position the LH rear door controller into the LH rear door, and then install the bolt that attaches the controller to the door.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T25 bit
  4. Install the LH front door impact sensor into the LH front door, turn the sensor clockwise to secure it, and then connect the electrical connector.
  5. Connect the LH rear door harness connectors (x4) and secure the connector locks, and then install the clips (x5) that attach the harness to the LH rear door closeout panel.
  6. Connect the external window switch to the LH rear window regulator.
  7. Position the LH rear door glass into the vehicle, and then install and hand tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the glass to the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Be careful of the glass slipping off the mount.

    • 10 mm socket
  8. Install the LH rear door outer waist belt seal. See Waist Belt Seal - Outer - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Install the LH rear door inner waist belt seal. See Waist Belt Seal - Inner - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Pull the emergency cable to manually unlatch the LH rear door.
  11. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power (Modify).
  12. Close LH rear door
  13. Check and adjust gap and flushness.

  14. Open the LH rear door.
  15. Torque the bolts (x2) that secures the LH rear window to the regulator.
    13 Nm (9.6 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  16. Install the LH rear door grommets (x4).
  17. Disconnect the external window switch.
  18. Replace the clips (x15) on the LH rear door trim panel.
  19. Install the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  20. Replace the lower clips (x6) on the LH rear beltline assembly.
  21. Install the LH rear door panel beltline assembly. See Beltline Assembly - Door Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  22. Raise all the windows.
  23. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  24. Close the LH doors.
