Tonneau Slat Assembly - Slat System - Tonneau (Rework)
Correction code 1120122007 FRT 1.02 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. To provide feedback on FRT values, email LaborTimeFeedback@tesla.com. NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure wearing proper PPE when performing the below procedure.
Procedure
- Close the tonneau cover.
-
Inspect Water Management slat.
NoteIf any gap is present in the fore/aft space between the tonneau applique and Water Management slat, continue the rework to remove 2 chain links and add 2 slats to close the gap.
- Remove the tonneau slat assembly. See Slat System - Tonneau (Remove and Install).
-
Remove the crosscar fixation tubes
(x3).
NoteThe last tube at the water management slat will be removed at a later step.
-
Insert 2 inflatable bags under the
tonneau slats at the tonneau transfer frame crossbar.
-
Remove the LH Water Management slat
bolts, rollers, and Tonneau Service Kit. Repeat this step for the RH side.
Note2x slat bolts, 2x sleeves, 4x rollers, 1x Y-React Clip. Carefully pull outwards to release slat bolts from slats.
-
Slide the Water Management slat away
from the slat assembly to release it, and then remove the Water Management slat from the
assembly.
NoteThe chain links will come with the slat.
-
Remove the fixation tube at the Water
Management slat.
NoteRelease the first roller of the chain at the Water Management slat. The pin is an interference fit into the Water Management slat bushing and requires a clip prytool to move outboard. Do not fully remove the pin. Move the pin outboard enough to release the fixation tube, and then reset it back to the original position.
-
Remove the last 2 links of the LH
chain. Repeat this step for the RH side.
NoteUse the tonneau removal tool (PN: 1996616-00-A) to release the roller bolt from the chain bushing. Remove the bushing and last 2 chain slats. Discard the bushing after removal.
-
Install new chain bushings into the
last LH and RH link pins.
NotePerform pull-push-pull test to ensure complete engagement, and that the bushing locks to the pins.
-
Assemble the 2 slat kits.
NoteApply silicon lubrication onto the tonneau sealing slat to ease installation. Position the bushing slat to match the slat hinge opening, and then slide the bushing into position. Repeat for the second slat.
-
Install the assembled 2 slat kit into
the beginning of the tonneau slat assembly.
NoteApply silicon lubrication onto the tonneau sealing slat to ease installation. Position the bushing slat to match slat hinge opening, and then slide it into position.
-
Install the Water Management slat with
the tonneau chain.
NoteApply silicon lubrication onto the tonneau sealing slat to ease installation. Position the bushing slat to match slat hinge opening, and then slide it into position.
-
Install the RH mid slat and Water
Management slat bolt, roller, and Tonneau Service Kit. Repeat this step for the LH
side.
Note4x slat bolts, 4x sleeves, 8x rollers, 2x Y-React Clips. Insert the slat bolts into the slats until they are fully engaged.
-
Install the crosscar fixation tubes
(x4).
NoteFrom the Water Management Slat, space 3 chain bushings for backlite opening when the tonneau is closed. Skip one chain bushing for the next tube, then install consecutive tubes. Temporarily secure the tubes with masking tape. Remove the tape upon installation of the chain.
- Install the tonneau slat assembly. See Slat System - Tonneau (Remove and Install).
-
On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate
to
to run the Tonneau Calibration routine.NoteAllow the routine to complete. The tonneau will move while the routine running.
- Close the tonneau cover.
-
Confirm there is no gap present
between the tonneau cover and the tonneau applique.
NoteConfirm no gap present fore/aft and top of slat to bottom of seal.
- Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
