Restraint Control Module (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the front doors and lower the front windows.
  2. Move the LH and RH front seats fully rearward.
  3. Consider how to disarm the RCM:
    • Vehicle software is 2025.44.3 or later: disarm the RCM. Run the following routine: PROC_RCM_DISARMvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode Plus:
      • Safety & Restraints ➜ Airbags ➜ Disarm RCM
      • Safety & Restraints ➜ Seats ➜ Disarm RCM

      Note
      If the RCM is disarmed, LV/MV disconnect can be skipped as long as all procedures being performed do not require LV/MV disconnect.
    • Vehicle software is earlier than 2025.44.3: continue with this procedure to disconnect LV/MV power.
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  5. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  6. Remove the LH front floor mat.
  7. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Partially remove the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  9. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the accelerator pedal side trim. See Side Trim - Pedal (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the LH center floor rail. See Rail - Center Floor - LH (Remove and Install).
  13. Fold back the LH front cabin carpet.
  14. Remove the RH front floor mat.
  15. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Install).
  16. Partially remove the RH front door seal .
  17. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Remove the RH center floor rail. See Rail - Center Floor - LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Fold back the RH carpet.
  20. Remove the center floor trim. See Trim - Center Floor - Lower (Remove and Install).
  21. Release the clips (x4) that attach the center floor lower support bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.
  22. Slide the floor jumper duct forward to release it from the center console riser duct, and then lift the rear of the jumper duct and pull rearward to remove it.
  23. Release the locking tabs, and then disconnect the connectors (x2) from the RCM.
  24. Remove and discard the nuts (x3) that attach the RCM to the vehicle, and then remove the RCM from the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

Install

  1. Position the RCM into the vehicle, and then install new nuts (x3) that attach the RCM to the vehicle.

  2. Connect the connectors (x2) to the RCM, and then engage the locking tabs.
  3. Position the floor jumper duct into the vehicle, slide the front of the duct into position, and then install the rear of the jumper duct to the riser duct.
  4. Position the center floor lower support bracket to the vehicle, and then install the clips (x4) that attach the bracket to the vehicle.
  5. Install the center floor trim. See Trim - Center Floor - Lower (Remove and Install).
  6. Unfold the RH front cabin carpet into position.
  7. Install the RH center floor rail. See Rail - Center Floor - LH (Remove and Install).
  8. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Install the RH front door seal.
  10. Install the RH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Install).
  11. Install the RH front floor mat.
  12. Unfold the LH front cabin carpet into position.
  13. Install the LH center floor rail. See Rail - Center Floor - LH (Remove and Install).
  14. Install the accelerator pedal side trim. See Side Trim - Pedal (Remove and Install).
  15. Install the footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell (Remove and Install).
  16. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Secure the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  18. Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the LH front floor mat.
  20. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  21. If the RCM was disarmed, re-arm it. Run the following routine: PROC_RCM_ARMvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode Plus:
    • Safety & Restraints ➜ Airbags ➜ Re-Arm RCM
    • Safety & Restraints ➜ Seats ➜ Re-Arm RCM

  22. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  23. Restore the LH and RH front seats back to their original position.
  24. Raise the front windows and close the front doors.
