Front Steering Gear and Lower Column - Front Steering Actuator (Remove and Replace)

Install

  1. Install the front steering actuator. See Front Steering Gear and Lower Column - Front Steering Actuator (Remove and Install).
  2. Perform a software reinstall using the touchscreen. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  4. Perform Handwheel calibration. See Set Handwheel Zero.
  5. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode Plus > Chassis > Steer by Wire.
  6. Navigate to Service Mode Plus > Chassis > Steer by Wire > PEPS, and then tap Front Rack Calibration and allow the routine to complete.

    Make sure the front rack is positioned evenly onto turn plates before running routine. Verify turn plates are centered to front wheels. Recommend assistance if needed. Slowly roll vehicle evenly onto turn plates.

  7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  8. Remove the vehicle from lift.
  9. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  10. Review wheel alignment requirements and add correction code as needed.
