Front Suspension Arms - Front Upper Arm Assembly - LH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH front wheel liner. See Wheel Arch Liners - Front Wheel Liner - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Position and raise pole jack onto the LH front lower control arm.
  6. Disconnect the LH front air suspension height sensor connector.
  7. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle.
    80 Nm (59.0 lbs-ft)

    Use a step ladder as needed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 18 mm socket
  8. Remove the LH front air suspension height sensor assembly. See Height Controller and Sensors - Front Air Suspension Height Sensor Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove and discard the nuts (x4) that attach the LH front upper control arm assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the control arm from the vehicle.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket

Install

  1. Position the LH front upper control arm assembly into the vehicle, and then install new nuts (x3) that attach the control arm to the vehicle.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  2. Position the LH front air suspension height sensor into the vehicle, and then install the sensor linkage onto the ball stud on the upper control arm assembly.
  3. Position the LH front air suspension height sensor to the body, and then install a new nut that attaches the sensor to the upper control arm mount.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  4. Install a new nut that attaches the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle.
    80 Nm (59.0 lbs-ft)

  5. Connect the LH front air suspension height sensor connector.
  6. Lower and remove pole jack from the LH front lower control arm.
  7. Install the LH front wheel liner. See Wheel Arch Liners - Front Wheel Liner - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  10. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
