- 2024-05-29: Updated locking cover torque values from 4 Nm to 6 Nm.
Warning
Cybertruck electronics are powered by a
48V "mid voltage" or "MV" architecture that is designed to improve efficiency. Servicing
MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or
vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any
required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.
Note
For best practices
associated with testing and servicing Super Connectors on a Cybertruck
Vehicle Controller, refer to video Super Controller Testing.
Warning
This procedure is a DRAFT. Although it has been validated, Warnings and Cautions might be missing. Follow safety requirements and use extreme caution when working on or near High Voltage systems and components. Provide corrections and feedback to ServiceDevelopment@teslamotors.com.
Remove

carpet.
-
Remove the LH carpet support
foam.
NoteLift up from the rear edge.
-
Slowly release the bolt that locks the
locking frame to the LH MV controller, making sure that the cover separates from the
controller squarely, and does not bind.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove the locking cover. Loosen the bolt until it spins freely.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse a power tool to loosen the fastener. -
Disconnect the floor harness connector
from the LH MV controller.
NotePull from the edges of the connector housing to release the edge clips (x2).CAUTIONDo not attempt to remove the connectors until the locking cover has been fully released. Removing a connector while the locking cover is still partially engaged could damage the harness connector.
-
Fold back the RH carpet.
-
Remove the RH carpet support
foam.
NoteLift up from the rear edge.
-
Slowly loosen the bolt and clips (x2)
that lock the locking frame to the RH MV controller, making sure that the cover
separates from the controller squarely, and does not bind.
NoteRelease the clips on the top and bottom of the retaining bracket.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove the locking cover. Loosen the bolt until it spins freely.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse a power tool to loosen the fastener. -
