Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Arm (Remove and Install)

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Remove the wiper blade. See Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Blade (Remove and Install).

Remove the wiper nut cap.

Release the washer fluid hose elbow
connection.

Remove the nut that attaches the wiper
arm to the vehicle.CAUTIONDo not use power tools on the nut.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket

Use the Wiper Arm Removal Tool (PN:
1853255-97-D) to remove the wiper arm assembly from the vehicle. If the Wiper Arm
Removal Tool is not available, put pressure towards the base of the wiper arm, and then
rock the wiper arm side to side while pulling upwards to release it from the
vehicle.
NoteMake sure the washer hose connection does not get pinched.Tip: Use a step ladder to get position over the wiper arm base for additional leverage.
Install

Press the wiper button on steering
wheel, and then use the touchscreen to select wiper speed "III". Wait 5 seconds, and
then use the touchscreen to turn the wiper off.
NoteMake sure drive rails are on and the powergate is closed while performing this routine.CAUTIONDo not skip this step. Failure to perform this step (wiper motor homing) may cause wiper arm and blade assembly misalignment, and may result in damage to the wiper.

Align the upper portion of the wiper
arm with the mark on the upper area of the windshield, and then install the base of the
wiper arm onto the splines.

Install the nut that attaches the
wiper arm to the vehicle.CAUTIONDo not use power tools on the nut.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket

Install the washer fluid hose elbow
connection.
NoteMake sure the hose is fully seated.

Install the wiper arm nut cover.
NoteMake sure the cover is fully seated.
- Install the wiper blade. See Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Blade (Remove and Install).
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
