Cabin HVAC - HVAC, Blower (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Remove the MV battery. See MV BATTERY-LITHUM ION-48V (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the bolt that attaches the remote fluid reservoir to the vehicle, lift the reservoir upward to release the datum, and then position the reservoir aside.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Make sure the reservoir does not tip over.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  3. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH frunk harness to the vehicle, and then disconnect the frunk harness electrical connectors (x2).
  4. Release the clips (x2) and hose connections (x2) that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle.
  5. Remove the fasteners (x3) that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle, and then remove the reservoir from the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  6. Release the clips (x5) that attach the washer fluid hose.
  7. Remove the Megabeam. See Front Inner Panels - Megabeam (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the blower motor housing cover to the vehicle, and then release the harness clip and disconnect the electrical connector.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)

    Release connector lock before disconnecting the connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  9. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the blower motor to the vehicle, and then lift the blower motor upward to remove it from the vehicle.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Make sure no debris enters the HVAC housing.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket

Install

  1. Position the blower motor into the vehicle, lower the blower motor into the HVAC housing, and then install the screws (x3) that attach the blower motor to the vehicle.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)

    Use caution to avoid damaging the fan assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  2. Position the blower motor housing cover into the vehicle, and then install the fasteners that attach the housing cover to the vehicle.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  3. Connect the blower motor electrical connector and engage the connector lock, and then install the harness clip.
  4. Position the Megabeam into the vehicle.

    Note
    Make sure the harness is on inboard side of cowl mounting tabs.

    CAUTION
    Make sure the harness is not caught or pinched during installation.
  5. Install the bolts (x8) that attach the Megabeam to the vehicle.
    18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft)
    165 Nm (121.7 lbs-ft)

    The EP14 bolts are torqued to 18 Nm and the 21 mm bolts are torqued to 165 Nm.

    Start the fasteners by hand before using power tools.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • EP 14 socket
    • 21 mm socket
  6. With assistance, position the AC compressor to the Megabeam, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach compressor to the Megabeam.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Support the AC compressor while installing the fasteners.

    Avoid straining the MV or HV harnesses.

    Start the fasteners by hand.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  7. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the Supermanifold to the megabeam.
    33 Nm (24.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket

    Note
    Start the bolts by hand.
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the A/C suction/discharge line bracket to the megabeam.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  9. Secure the clips (x4) and install the fastener that attach the LH frunk harness to the Megabeam.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E5
  10. Connect the RH frunk harness connectors (x2) and secure the locking tab, and then secure the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the Megabeam.
  11. Fasten the washer fluid hose clips (x5).
  12. Position the windshield washer reservoir into the vehicle, and then install the fasteners (x3) that attach the reservoir to the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  13. Secure the clips (x2) and hose connections (x2) that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle.
  14. Move the remote fluid reservoir into position, and then install the bolt that attaches reservoir to the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Align the datum, and then slide the reservoir downwards.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  15. Install the MV battery. See MV BATTERY-LITHUM ION-48V (Remove and Install).
