Manual Release - Tailgate (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Remove the tailgate inner cover. See Cover - Inner - Tailgate (Remove and Install).
  2. Release the latching bracket and cable stay to release the LH manual release cable. Repeat this step for the RH manual release cable.

    Note
    Release latch on bracket, then slide inboard to release. Pivot the cable stay 90 degrees to release it from the latch.

  3. Release the clips (x2) and latching bracket that attach the tailgate manual release cable assembly to the vehicle, and then slide the cable upward to remove the assembly from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the tailgate manual release cable assembly into the vehicle, and then secure the clips (x2) and latching bracket that attach the assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Maneuver the LH manual release cable into position, install the cable stay to the latch, and then secure the latching bracket. Repeat this step for the RH manual release cable.

  3. Install the tailgate inner cover. See Cover - Inner - Tailgate (Remove and Install)
