Brake Caliper - Rear - LH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Open the powered frunk.
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  5. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle. See .
  6. Select "Actions" and search for "EPB"
  7. Select PROC_EPBL_START-SERVICE-MODEvia Toolbox:(link), click 'Run', and allow routine to complete

    Chock wheel if necessary, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete
  8. Remove the LH rear wheel. See .
  9. Position oil drain under LH rear brake caliper
  10. Disconnect EPB harness connector from LH rear brake caliper

  11. Remove LH rear brake caliper

    2x bolts, 21 mm, 150 Nm, 1x banjo bolt, 11mm, 42 Nm

Install

  1. Install LH rear brake caliper onto LH rear knuckle

  2. Connect LH rear EPB harness

    1x connector, Engage locking tab
  3. Remove oil drain from underneath vehicle
  4. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
  5. Hold brake pedal and select park on UI to disable EPB service mode
  6. Clean area around brake fluid reservoir and remove brake reservoir cap
  7. Check brake fluid level and top off reservoir if necessary

    If level is above Max line, remove extra fluid
  8. Fill brake bleeder reservoir to full level

    Use only DOT 4 brake fluid
  9. Install pressure bleeder adapter onto reservoir

    Attach the brake reservoir hose to the brake adapter at this time
  10. Set pressure to 30psi

    Connect power supply to bleeder and turn on the power to set pressure to 30 psi
  11. Reconnect Toolbox to the vehicle.
  12. Select "Actions" tab and search for ‘"bleed"
  13. Remove bleeding valve cover and install the fluid catching bottle to LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve before starting the ESP

  14. Open the LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve then Click the play button next to PROC_ESP_FRONT-R-REAR-L-BRAKE-BLEEDvia Service Mode:Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Bleed FR-RLvia Service Mode Plus:
    • chassis ➜ ESP Post Replacement ➜ Bleed FR/RL Calipers
    • chassis ➜ ESP Replacement Panel ➜ Bleed FR/RL Calipers
    • chassis ➜ IBST Replacement Panel ➜ Bleed FR/RL Calipers
    via Toolbox:(link)
    and select "Run" to start the ESP and then close the bleeding valve once the pump stops running

    1x bleeding valve, 10mm, 10 Nm, Make sure valve is hand tight when closed
  15. Repeat the above step until clear fluid and no air bubbles come out of the LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve

  16. Remove the fluid catching bottle, Torque LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve and install cover

  17. Turn off and remove pressure brake bleeder kit from vehicle
  18. Check brake fluid level and top off reservoir if necessary

    If level is above Max line, remove extra fluid
  19. Install brake reservoir cap
  20. Pump brake pedal a few times to ensure pedal feels normal
  21. Select "Actions" tab and search for ‘"Stiffness"
  22. Select TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-SERVICEvia Service Mode:Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Stiffness Testvia Service Mode Plus:chassis ➜ ESP Replacement Panel ➜ Stiffness Testvia Toolbox:(link), click "Run", and allow routine to complete
  23. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See .
  24. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  25. Close the powered frunk.
  26. Install the LH rear wheel. See .
  27. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  28. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
